Senior Analyst – Indirect Tax Technology
About the role:
In this role, you will work at the intersection of tax, technology and business operations. You will support and enhance Boston Scientific's global indirect tax technology landscape, helping ensure accurate tax calculation, reporting and compliance across multiple systems.
Your primary focus will be the business-side management of Vertex and SAP Document and Reporting Compliance (SAP DRC), including tax content maintenance and product and transaction mapping. The underlying technical architecture, integrations and system development remain the responsibility of the IT organization. Success in this role requires close collaboration with IT architects, IT managers, functional analysts and Finance teams to support day-to-day operations, resolve issues and drive continuous improvement.
Initially, this role will support regions where Vertex is currently deployed while also supporting SAP DRC requirements across the EMEA region, with opportunities to expand as these solutions are implemented globally.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Indirect tax technology management
a) Partner closely with IT architects, IT managers, functional analysts and other IT teams to support effective integration between Vertex, SAP DRC, ERP platforms and other business systems.
b) Monitor and validate tax calculations, tax content and product and transaction mapping to support tax accuracy and compliance.
c) Partner with IT and local Finance teams to manage the business-side configuration and maintenance of tax rules, rates, content updates and product and transaction mapping within Vertex and SAP DRC while relying on IT for system architecture and technical development
Support and troubleshooting
a) Lead the business-side analysis and resolution of Vertex- and SAP DRC-related issues while partnering with IT teams on technical investigations.
b) Investigate and resolve data, mapping and system issues affecting indirect tax calculations.
c) Collaborate with IT and external vendors to support system patches, issue resolution and ongoing platform stability
System enhancements and projects
a) Contribute to ERP upgrades, indirect tax technology enhancements and tax automation initiatives, including Vertex and SAP DRC implementations and improvements.
b) Partner with the IT and Tax teams to document business processes, system configurations and standard operating procedures.
c) Share knowledge and provide guidance to internal stakeholders on indirect tax technology processes, best practices and system functionality.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years' experience in indirect tax.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to translate indirect tax business requirements into effective system configurations.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across Tax, Finance and IT organizations.
Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with IT architects, IT managers and functional analysts.
Experience with indirect tax technology solutions such as Vertex, SAP DRC or similar tax automation platforms.
Experience supporting ERP implementations, tax technology enhancements or business process improvement initiatives.
Fluent English
