Global Atlantic Financial Company Bermuda Limited is looking for a Senior Finance Analyst to join their Bermuda Finance team. The Senior Finance Analyst will support the Bermuda reinsurance companies and the company's Institutional business segment by delivering accounting and control functions. A key goal for this role is to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial information and regulatory filings. This position will support the broader team of financial reporting professionals, completing validation of information provided by company sources. The successful incumbent will monitor results and produce exception reports along with fluctuation analyses to ensure the team achieves the timeframes and reporting standards required by their stakeholders. This position reports to an Assistant Vice President, Insurance Planning & Treasury, and offers the opportunity to grow with our dynamic and leading long-term reinsurance business in Bermuda, gaining exposure to life and annuity business across several accounting and capital regimes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the preparation of regulatory reporting on US GAAP, US Statutory, Bermuda Statutory and Bermuda Economic balance sheet bases for multiple reinsurers, as well as execution of control processes
- Perform monthly and quarterly closing procedures, including tracking availability of information, reviewing variances in trend or expected levels, producing control and flash reports, and preparing reconciliations
- Investigate unanticipated variances, providing timely feedback to source areas to ensure that issues are addressed promptly within close timeframes
- Participate in analytical review of performance of the reinsurance and borrower entities, including flux analyses, actual-to-expected reviews and identification of key drivers
- Support timely planning, preparation and compilation of quarterly and annual financial reports, footnotes and supporting documentation
- Support system enhancements and recommend process/system and automation improvements
- Perform quarterly review and analysis of net investment income and net cost of insurance
- Partner with other teams to identify potential solutions to issues, contributing to tactical design, testing plans and user acceptance testing
Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; working towards CPA, CA or other comparable professional designation preferred
- 5+ years of relevant work experience; recent experience in life insurance with reinsurance exposure preferred
- Knowledge of US GAAP or US Statutory accounting required; knowledge of Bermuda Statutory and the Bermuda Economic Balance Sheet a plus
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with demonstrated proactiveness, good attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate across all areas of the company
- Demonstrated experience assessing performance versus prior and expected on an insurance business
- Experience delivering audit requests and explanations, and building and performing controls
- Ability to work in a cross-functional team and thrive in a fast-paced, complex environment
- High proficiency in MS Excel required
- Familiarity with SAP, OneStream, W Desk, Tableau, Power Query and other reporting and analysis applications a plus
