This person will be a key member of the Airwallex Finance Shared Services. As Senior Accountant you will take full ownership of accounting operations for all entities in Airwallex and ensure compliance with financial reporting, local audit and tax requirements. You will work closely with other functional teams, including Group Finance, FP&A, Group Tax and controllership team in each operation region. Your role will be a combination of recurring finance tasks and project based initiatives to continuously improve the Controllership team within Airwallex. This position reports to our Finance Manager, based in Shanghai.

Responsibilities: 

• Perform daily accounting and finance duties including receivables and payables processes, general ledger, accrual accounting and bank reconciliations

• Own the financial control procedures on our monthly close reporting processes including balance sheet, P&L reviews prior to submission to FP&A

• Assist with preparation of quarterly GST filings

• Assist in handover with Local Finance Teams on accounting and finance duties which are suitable to be run in a centralized manner,  including payables processes, general ledger, accrual accounting and bank reconciliations;

• Own the financial procedures on monthly close reporting processes prior to submission to Local Finance Teams.

• Responsible for handling and submission of additional ad hoc reports when necessary

• Closely work with the SSC team in Shanghai and assist in SOP drafting for standardized and efficient operations. 

• Strong problem solving skills with ability to drive process improvements 

• Carry out any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Management

• Responsibilities of the role may develop over time.

What you bring:

• 3+ years of accounting experience, Big Four experience is advantageous

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, CPA or equivalent qualification preferred

• Preferred to have good knowledge of ERP system like Oracle etc

• Strong understanding of financial services, fintech businesses and regulatory environments

• Strong knowledge on local accounting standards and being able to apply them in practice. Advanced excel skills would be advantageous.

• Proven experience in managing complex, local or international projects focused on process improvement initiatives

• Strong communicator and ability to interact with all levels within the organization

• Confident, creative and innovative thought leadership and communication skills to deliver impact in a hyper growth environment

• Experience working independently and navigating ambiguity
