What is unique about this role?
The Senior AI Engineer on the AI Platform team addresses advanced eDiscovery AI challenges through innovative software solutions. This role is pivotal in designing and developing production-grade software products that integrate Predictive AI (document classification, TAR scoring engines) and Generative AI (LLM-powered document analysis, RAG pipelines, privilege detection) capabilities into eDiscovery review workflows. The focus is on building cutting-edge, scalable software systems that minimize manual review effort, enhance decision quality, and deliver measurable value to legal clients.
What will this person do
- Design and develop comprehensive software applications and services that deliver eDiscovery AI capabilities — including TAR/CAL workflow engines, document scoring orchestration, Generative AI output pipelines, and reviewer-facing APIs.
- Architect and implement cloud services on Microsoft Azure that integrate model serving endpoints, vector search services, LLM APIs (Azure OpenAI), and eDiscovery platform connectors.
- Collaborate with data scientists to translate ML model outputs into reliable, scalable software services that meet legal defensibility and performance requirements.
- Develop and implement cloud services leveraging Azure Service Bus, Azure Functions, and Kubernetes for high-throughput document processing at multi-million document scale.
- Write detailed non-functional software requirements; analyze requirements for feasibility within time and cost constraints.
- Lead and implement software solutions using SOLID principles, design patterns, defensive programming, and OOP best practices.
- Coach and mentor team members in advanced technologies, integration patterns for AI services, and software engineering best practices.
- Enhance agile engineering processes and advocate for engineering productivity tools and best practices.
- Handle additional duties as assigned.
Bring your passion and together we will shine. It would also be great if you had the following:
- Strong proficiency in C# (.NET Framework, .NET Core, ASP.NET Core) with at least 7 years of professional development experience.
- Minimum of 5 years in building cloud-connected software on Azure, including experience with REST APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures, and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Experience integrating with AI/ML services: model serving APIs, Azure OpenAI/LLM APIs, vector databases, or Hugging Face inference endpoints.
- Minimum of 5 years in database development (MS SQL, PostgreSQL, or equivalent), including query optimization and handling large datasets.
- Proficiency with Git, Gitflow, Azure DevOps (AZDO), and CI/CD pipeline automation.
- 1+ years of hands-on software development experience using modern AI-assisted Development tooling (e.g., Github Copilot, Claude, or Codex)
- At least 2 years of experience in Test-Driven Development (TDD) or unit testing.
- Experience with eDiscovery platforms (Relativity, Brainspace) or legal technology integrations is strongly preferred.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Duties are performed in a typical office environment while at a desk or computer table. Duties require the ability to use a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material, in a quiet and professional setting. Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
