As we scale GroundIQ, our high-growth venture in subsurface mapping and modelling, we are looking for an AI Engineer to help develop next-generation capabilities that apply artificial intelligence to generate rich, actionable 3D ground models.
 

This is more than a technical role—it’s a unique opportunity to apply cutting-edge AI to real-world geoscience challenges. You’ll work alongside a multidisciplinary team of engineers, geoscientists, and product leaders to build intelligent systems that extract and interpret geological layers and geohazards from complex 3D data. Your work will directly contribute to automated insight generation and client-ready reporting, empowering engineers, designers, and asset owners to make faster, smarter, and more sustainable decisions.

Your Role

• Develop and deploy deep learning models (e.g., 3D U-Net, PointNet++) to analyse and classify subsurface data.

• Detect and interpret geological features such as layers, faults, voids, and anomalies, and associate them with geotechnical properties.

• Implement geometry analysis algorithms to quantify volumes and dimensions of subsurface features across diverse datasets.

• Contribute to the development of classification and labelling schemes for new and historical geodata.

• Integrate large language models (LLMs) to generate natural language summaries and assist with label validation.

• Automate the generation of client-ready reports, including annotated 3D visuals and engineering interpretations.

• Collaborate with geoscientists, software engineers, and academic partners to refine models and workflows.

• Support continuous model improvement through feedback loops and human validation.

Your Track Role

• MSc in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in AI, machine learning, or large language models (LLMs).

• Experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) and 3D data processing.

• Familiarity with LLMs (e.g., GPT-4) and prompt engineering.

• Strong Python skills and experience with geodata or scientific computing libraries.

• Ability to collaborate with domain experts and translate geoscientific requirements into AI solutions.

Bonus Points

• Experience with 3D visualization, image classification, mesh processing, or geotechnical data.

• Background in medical AI data analysis.

• Experience in tech venture or startup environments.
