About the team

The IT and Security team sits within the Office of the CTO (OCTO), a small, high-leverage group led by our CTO & CISO. OCTO owns CloudZero's AI-native vision, IT, security, and the economics of our internal technology. The team runs IT, data, governance, risk and compliance, and product security, and leads our Claude platform rollout, our AI landing zones, Okta as code, and our AI cost and usage reporting.

The team works from an AI maturity model that describes the move from individuals using AI every day (level 2) to teams redesigning how their work gets done around it (level 3 and beyond). It partners with AI Champions in each function and builds rather than presents. Because CloudZero is an AI cost management company, every system the team builds is a proof point for what we sell: we instrument everything for cost and practice what we preach.

The role

We are hiring a Senior AI Enablement Engineer. This is a technical role on the IT and Security team, but it is not traditional IT. Your job is to help every team at CloudZero do more with AI, and to make sure we can do it safely.

You will embed with teams like Finance, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, People, and Engineering, learn how their work really gets done, and then redesign it with AI. You will build the agents, automations, and tools that make that happen, and you will teach people to build their own. When you find that the foundations are missing, such as the right access controls, data connections, logging, evaluation, or cost tracking, you will build them or pick the right product and implement it.

This is one of three related senior roles on our IT and Security team, each a single hire and each adding capacity. Our existing Senior IT & AI Systems Engineer owns core IT systems, identity, and employee lifecycle automation. Our Senior AI Data & Platform Engineer builds the data, retrieval, APIs, and agent runtime behind our AI. You focus on people and workflows: embedding with teams and shipping what they need on top of that foundation. An Associate AI Enablement Engineer will support all three. This posting is for one opening.

You are a generalist who uses AI every day to do far more than you could alone. You like hard problems, you like people, and you would rather ship something that works than write a slide about it.

We work automation first. A ticket is a signal that a system failed a person, and the third request for the same number is a data product that does not exist yet. Your job is to fix the upstream cause so the next ten people do not hit the same wall.

What you will do
  • Partner with business teams to map their workflows, find the friction, and agree on AI enablement goals and success metrics before building anything.

  • Design, build, and run AI-powered workflows, agents, and automations that change how work gets done, from quick wins to production systems that teams rely on.

  • Integrate AI with the systems we run on (for example our CRM, finance, HR, support, collaboration, and data platforms) using APIs, MCP servers, iPaaS tools, and custom code.

  • Spot when a solution built for one team can help others and turn it into a reusable pattern, skill, or template.

  • Identify gaps in the platforms we need to deploy and govern AI safely, including identity and access, data access and classification, logging, evaluation, human review, and spend controls. Then build or buy and implement what is missing.

  • Own the build vs buy call for AI tooling: evaluate vendors, run trials, and make clear recommendations with cost and risk tradeoffs.

  • Work with Security, G&A, and Engineering to write and maintain practical AI usage and data handling standards, and make the approved path the easy path.

  • Set up evaluations and monitoring so the workflows you ship keep working as models and systems change.

  • Track AI adoption, outcomes, and spend across the company, and report what is working to IT leadership. Use CloudZero to understand what our own AI spend is producing.

  • Raise AI fluency across the company through office hours, working sessions, playbooks, and one-on-one coaching.

  • Document everything you build so the work is repeatable and scalable.

  • Build the experience for internal agent builders: templates, deploy paths, docs, and office hours that turn one team's work into every team's capability.

  • Turn repeated requests into self-serve tools and data products, working with our IT & AI Systems Engineer on the systems and employee lifecycle automation that agents depend on.

  • Partner with our IT and data platform engineers so every agent runs with the permissions of the person who invokes it, never more, with no shared service accounts, and with its cost attributed to a team.

What you bring
  • 5+ years in a technical role such as software engineering, IT or systems engineering, solutions/sales engineering, automation, or internal tools.

  • Hands-on coding skills in Python, TypeScript, or similar, plus solid SQL and comfort working with REST APIs and webhooks.

  • Deep personal use of modern AI tools, including coding agents, LLM APIs, MCP, agent skills or custom GPTs, and retrieval patterns. You can show how your use has changed over the last year.

  • Ability to enable and train; confidence in facilitating workshops and trainings in an engaging manner that fosters continuous learning and development.

  • A track record of building tools, automations, or AI workflows that changed how a real team works, with specific examples and results.

  • Working knowledge of identity and access (SSO, SCIM, OAuth scopes, service accounts, least privilege) and how data permissions carry into AI tools.

  • The habit of defining what good output looks like, testing it, and owning the result.

  • Strong business sense and the ability to earn trust with non-technical teams quickly.

  • Clear writing and teaching. You can explain technical ideas to a diverse set of audiences, both technical and non-technical.

  • Comfort with ambiguity. You do not need a detailed roadmap to know where to start.

  • You reach for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, or Cursor before solving a problem by hand, and you can talk credibly about which models and tools are good at what, where they fall short, and how to prompt them well.

Nice to have
  • Experience as a forward deployed engineer, solutions engineer, or consultant who had to deliver results inside someone else's organization.

  • Experience with iPaaS or workflow tools (for example Workato, Zapier, n8n, or Make) and enterprise AI platforms.

  • Familiarity with AI governance frameworks such as the NIST AI Risk Management Framework, or with SOC 2 style security programs.

  • Experience with data warehouses, data pipelines, and retrieval systems.

  • Background in cloud infrastructure, cloud cost management, or SaaS spend management.

  • Experience leading change across skeptical teams or building internal training programs that stuck.

About CloudZero
CloudZero is the AI ROI Company. We built the financial control plane for AI: the system finance, IT, and engineering use to connect every AI dollar to the outcome it produced. Across every provider. In real time.
AI spend is the fastest-growing line on enterprise P&Ls and the least understood. Only 14% of CFOs can prove AI ROI today. CloudZero answers the question no one else can: what did it cost to produce this outcome, for this customer, on this model.
The largest cloud spenders on the planet already run on CloudZero, including Coinbase, Duolingo, DoorDash, and Shutterstock. We processed 14 trillion billing events in the last twelve months. We're the first listed partner on Anthropic's cost and usage API. We've raised over $119 million, including a $56 million Series C backed by leading venture capital firms.

What We Do

CloudZero is the only cloud cost intelligence platform that puts engineering in control by connecting technical decisions to business results. CloudZero ingests cost data from AWS and Snowflake, organizes it for analysis, and delivers the insights to engineering teams who can understand how their work is impacting the business. You can answer question like: * Who are my most expensive customers? * Which product, feature, and team is spending the most? * Has the profitability of my product changed quarter over quarter? The outcome is real-time intelligence that helps companies control their cost of goods sold (COGS) and gross margins — aligning engineering and finance teams once and for all.
