ABOUT THE TEAM

The Senior Advisor, Portfolio Risk Management is responsible for leading the portfolio-level risk view for assigned Private Asset Classes, including the monitoring, analysis, and communication of key risk exposures and performance drivers. The role ensures a consistent and well-understood risk narrative across senior stakeholders, including Investment teams, the CIO Office, and the Risk group. The Senior Advisor plays a central role in shaping the evolution of Top-Down portfolio risk frameworks, establishing best practices, and advancing analytical standards for Private Assets, characterized by illiquidity, leverage, and complex risk drivers. The role requires strong judgment, deep analytical capability, and the ability to influence outcomes without direct authority.

ABOUT YOUR ROLE
  • Lead analyses that build a comprehensive understanding of portfolio exposures, risks, and performance drivers for the assigned asset class

  • Influence the adoption and the evolution of the Top-Down portfolio framework developed by the risk group

  • Lead ongoing monitoring of portfolio risk metrics, concentration risk, performance trends, stress testing, and scenario analysis

  • Actively collaborate on the preparation of executive-level materials for the senior management of the risk group and governance committees

  • Translate complex risk analytics into clear and actionable insights to support investment committees and portfolio managers

  • Support the development, implementation, and ongoing adherence of portfolio risk frameworks, policies, and limits

  • Act as a trusted advisor to Investment teams and CIO Office on portfolio-level risk considerations

  • Provide independent challenge and constructive recommendations on portfolio decisions, transactions, and strategic initiatives

WHAT YOU’LL NEED
  • Master’s degree in finance or accounting or related field (e.g., MBA, MSc) and/or professional designation (e.g., CPA, CFA, FRM)

  • Eight (8) + years of experience in portfolio risk management, investment team, portfolio management, or a relevant analytical role

  • Demonstrated experience with Private Asset Classes

  • Strong ability to communicate effectively at different levels of seniority

  • Strategic thinking and sound risk judgment

  • Attention to detail with strong execution discipline

  • Ability to influence without direct authority

  • Bilingualism English and French (frequent interactions in English with PSP employees based in our offices in Hong Kong, London and New York, and interactions in French with employees in our local offices in Montreal and Ottawa)
