Job Description:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Conduct reviews of commercial and/or personal rates for assigned programs.
- Prepare pricing indications.
- Prepare classification level and segmentation analyses.
- Prepare rate proposals and related exhibits.
- Design and manage infrastructure for actuarial data warehouses.
- Apply predictive modeling techniques to analyze risk and advanced rate and risk selection models.
- Conduct reserve analyses and profit reviews quarterly.
- Communicate with regulatory authorities and management.
- Prepare internal and external communications.
- Assist in maintenance and service of financial models.
- Provide support to Sr. Actuaries.
- Keep abreast of current industry and actuarial developments.
- Monitor industry trends in frequency and severity, and investigate any material differences between external/internal trends.
- Gather data and files for Reinsurance.
- Provide reporting supports for other business units such as claims.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or other related field; 2 or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge/Skills
- Completion of at least four actuarial exams.
- Ability to work on assigned tasks independently and in team environment.
- Ability to develop independent analyses to analyze and solve business related problems.
- Advanced knowledge of databases, data extraction and insurance terminology.
- Flexible to daily changing needs and job duties.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, along with financial reporting knowledge and experience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills are necessary to successfully communicate technical work to a non-technical audience.
- Superior attention to detail and accuracy, and on timely manner.
- Knowledge of databases, data extraction, and data analytic methods.
Computer Skills
- Advanced Excel, Visual Basic, and other Microsoft Office.
- Advanced SQL and other programming skills
