Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: 

  • Conduct reviews of commercial and/or personal rates for assigned programs.
  • Prepare pricing indications.
  • Prepare classification level and segmentation analyses.
  • Prepare rate proposals and related exhibits.
  • Design and manage infrastructure for actuarial data warehouses.
  • Apply predictive modeling techniques to analyze risk and advanced rate and risk selection models.
  • Conduct reserve analyses and profit reviews quarterly.
  • Communicate with regulatory authorities and management.
  • Prepare internal and external communications.
  • Assist in maintenance and service of financial models.
  • Provide support to Sr. Actuaries.
  • Keep abreast of current industry and actuarial developments.
  • Monitor industry trends in frequency and severity, and investigate any material differences between external/internal trends.
  • Gather data and files for Reinsurance.
  • Provide reporting supports for other business units such as claims.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or other related field; 2 or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Completion of at least four actuarial exams.
  • Ability to work on assigned tasks independently and in team environment. 
  • Ability to develop independent analyses to analyze and solve business related problems.
  • Advanced knowledge of databases, data extraction and insurance terminology.
  • Flexible to daily changing needs and job duties.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, along with financial reporting knowledge and experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are necessary to successfully communicate technical work to a non-technical audience.
  • Superior attention to detail and accuracy, and on timely manner.
  • Knowledge of databases, data extraction, and data analytic methods.

Computer Skills

  • Advanced Excel, Visual Basic, and other Microsoft Office.
  • Advanced SQL and other programming skills
