The Senior Accountant, Accounts Receivable reports to the Accounts Receivable Manager and is responsible for ensuring the accounting for our loan receivable balance is in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and other regulatory requirements. Designs and executes financial controls and reporting to ensure payments and loan adjustments are processed timely, appropriately and fairly stated on the financial statements.
Essential Functions
Develop and implement internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial information, including reconciliation controls
Processing payments (checks, ACH, credit card, wire transfers) and apply them to customer accounts
Reconcile customer accounts, investigate discrepancies, and resolve billing issues
Identifies opportunities for automation and operational process improvement
Translate operational or system changes into clear accounting requirements, ensuring downstream impacts are identified and addressed early
Partners with Legal, Compliance and Account Servicing teams on error remediation and compliance with processing
Identify, implement and manage solutions to improve processes focused around legal and accounting regulations to ensure compliance is achieved
Works with external auditors on financial statement and SOC 1 audit
May evaluate new accounting processes and perform accounting research on new business transactions to determine appropriate accounting
Escalate cross‑functional risks, issues, or ambiguities promptly with clear options and recommended solutions
Other duties as assigned by Accounting Operations Management
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field, or commensurate work experience required
CPA preferred
4 years of progressive experience in accounting or 3 years of public account experience required
Experience and working knowledge of U.S. GAAP required
Financial industry experience preferred
Attention to detail and accuracy required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
Proficient in the utilization of Microsoft Office Suite
Proficiency in working with large data sets, preferred
Ability to thrive in a fast paced work environment
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, visualize, talk, hear, and handle or touch objects or controls. The employee may occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 20 pounds.
This position is an office-based position where you must be able to sit for long periods of time. The employee will be working on a computer 90% of the time.
