We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accounts Officer / Assistant Team Leader to oversee accounting operations, ensure the accuracy of financial reports, and provide guidance to the accounting team. Key Responsibilities

  • Review client statements and voyage accounts for accuracy, completeness, and compliance before submission to clients.

  • Perform first-level approval of payments, ensuring supporting documentation and authorizations are complete and accurate.

  • Oversee and validate accounting entries, reconciliations, invoices, and financial reports prepared by team members.

  • Ensure timely completion of month-end and year-end closing activities.

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients regarding financial inquiries, account balances, billing matters, and statement clarifications.

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the full scope of services provided to clients and effectively communicate financial impacts and requirements.

  • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to junior accountants and team members.

  • Monitor work quality and ensure adherence to company policies, accounting standards, and client-specific requirements.

  • Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and process issues in a timely manner.

  • Assist management in improving accounting procedures, controls, and operational efficiencies.

  • Support the Team Leader and management in special projects, audits, and financial reporting requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with supervisory or team leadership responsibilities.

  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounting.

  • Proven experience reviewing financial statements, client reports, and accounting transactions.

  • Ability to understand the complete service cycle and communicate effectively with clients regarding financial matters and inquiries.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is highly preferred.

  • Experience in maritime, shipping, voyage accounting, or related industries is an advantage.

  • Prior experience in a team lead, supervisory, or senior accounting role is preferred.
