SBH Health System is searching for a qualified Senior Accountant-General Accounting to join our Finance department. The Senior Accountant plays a key role in the General Accounting Department and is responsible for supporting the monthly close process, maintaining the general ledger, performing account reconciliations, and assisting with financial reporting, budgeting, and audit support.
Preferred QualificationsQualified applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Minimum 5 years’ accounting experience required. Healthcare or nonprofit healthcare experience is strongly preferred. CPA or CPA-eligible preferred. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office. Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, complex formulas, and financial data analysis are required. Critical thinking and customer service skills are a must, and the ideal candidate will be able to problem solve with some supervision. Effective written and verbal communication skills and flexibility to adjust to a dynamic work environment and be a team player preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
General Ledger:
· Prepare/post standard monthly journal entries with backup
· Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-to-date account summary and detail analyses
· Prepare actual vs. budget monthly & YTD variance analysis for operating expenses & revenues
· Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts including intercompany accounts
· Assist with maintaining fixed asset ledger and tracking construction costs
· Assist with preparation and review of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for management reporting.
· Lead assigned portions of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and resolution of reconciling items.
· Prepare and coordinate assigned audit workpapers and support external auditors during the annual GAAP audit.
· Assist with preparing budgets and forecasts as needed
· Assist with ad hoc & special accounting projects as directed by Finance management
Other Responsibilities:
· Assists with audit(s) as required for the position.
· Utilizes Oracle accounting system for all general accounting transactions.
· Communicate effectively with Controller and Director of Finance on all matters regarding account balances and reconciliations, work papers, and special projects
· Identifies and proposes solutions for automation and process improvement while ensuring daily responsibilities are completed with detail, accuracy and timeliness.
· Performs all other duties, at the discretion of management, as assigned.
