Tempus is looking for a hardworking, ambitious senior accountant to support its growing operations in Chicago. This position will play a key role in the day-to-day accounting functions and month-end close process.
Job Duties:
Support and participate in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement close process including preparation of monthly journal entries, accruals and reserves, reconciliation and reviews of balance sheet accounts and performing inquiries / reviews.
Reviewing and analyzing GL transactions and accounts
Preparing materials for financial and tax audits
Supporting day-to-day accounting functions (GL / Inventory & Tax Compliance)
Support the Controller in identifying improvements to automate existing processes for increased efficiencies
Working cross functionally with other departments and building strong relationships with external vendors and customers
Assist in development and management of staff accountants
Conducting ad-hoc analysis to support finance leadership requests
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in accounting role, preferably within finance, consulting, or tech
Big 4 experience a plus
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite; Advanced MS Excel skills (Logical Formulas, Lookups, Pivot Tables)
An eye for the details, and the ability to deliver accurate output in a timely manner
Strong organizational skills and comfort with managing multiple work streams
Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and technical accounting areas
A champion for data accuracy and quality for the Accounting team
Thrives in a demanding, start-up, fast paced environment
NetSuite / Intacct or large ERP system experience a plus
Chi: $78,000 - $120,000
The expected salary range above is applicable if the role is performed from Illinois and may vary for other locations (California, Colorado, New York). Actual salary may vary based on qualifications and experience. Tempus offers a full range of benefits, which may include incentive compensation, restricted stock units, medical and other benefits depending on the position.
