Job Summary
Essential Functions
Responsible for the accounting functions associated with general ledger and sub-ledger maintenance, including account reconciliations, journal entries and transactional analysis
Assists with the preparation of monthly financial statements and prepares certain month-end journal entries.
Performs a flux analysis and documents explanations for significant variances between actual and budgeted amounts.
Investigates discrepancies and other areas of concern regarding financial information and recommends corrective actions.
Works on special accounting projects as assigned.
Provides functional backup for other accounting functions as assigned.
Possesses strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills.
Capable of working both independently and in teams, as needed.
Willingly provides insight, suggestions, and methods to better the company.
Proactively take on other tasks, as needed.
Complete tasks accurately and on time.
Other Functions
Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
Minimum of 5-10 years of related work experience
Knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles
Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
Hands-on experience with accounting software packages
Experience with construction accounting and service accounting preferred
Familiarity with financial accounting statements
Attention to detail and accuracy
Strong Communication skills
Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time while paying strict attention to detail
Ability to build rapport and collaborate with others within the company and externally
Self-motivated and able to thrive in a results-driven environment
Physical Demands and Working Environment
Approximately 90% of duties performed are in a seated position. The employee must reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
