The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing the preparation of the TDC Ltd management accounts; reviewing accounts prepared for various departments and subsidiaries; reviewing select fixed assets schedules for TDC Parent; managing local and overseas payables; managing the process of collecting rebates from Government Customs Department

Main Duties
  • Manage preparation of TDC Ltd monthly Management Accounts, prepare Notes and circulate to Executive Directors and Managers by 10th working day of each month
  • Manage the local and overseas payables for the TDC Parent Company: review reconciliations; ensure vendors are paid within the payment terms; write letters for disputed amounts; ensure listing reflects payable invoices only; manage trade payables in transit account
  • Review Trade Payables in Transit Accounts (21980-1001 & 21981-1001) by Friday of each week
  • Reconcile Accounts Payable to General Ledger daily
  • Manage the preparation and submission of the duty-free rebates worksheets, samples, concessions letters and forms to the Government Customs Department and Ministry of Finance for the TDC Home and Building Depots in St Kitts and Nevis which includes reviewing and providing weekly updates
  • Review TDC Ltd Fixed Asset schedules monthly by 12th of each month
  • Prepare payment to Sagicor for Group Health Insurance by 10th working day each month and ensure payment is made
  • Prepare reconciliation of FCIB salaries account by 30th of each month
  • Reconcile Withholding Tax provision (0101-2226) by 5th working day of each month
  • Reconcile Value Added Tax (0101-2203) by 13th day of each month
  • Review the accounts and notes for SKMP by 10th working day of the month
  • Reconcile Trade Receivables clearing accounts (TDC Rentals Ltd) daily and confirm by 18th of each month
  • Review TDC Mall Tenants billings by 2nd working day of each month
  • Review Head Office Expenses part 2 by 7th working day of the month
  • Review Building Repairs Expenses by 7th working day of the month
  • Review Plant/Machine/Generator Expenses by 7th working day of the month
  • Review Purchasing Department Expenses by 7th working day of the month
  • Review the accounts and notes for Sakara Shipping Inc by the 3rd working day of each month
  • Review the accounts and notes for TDC Purchasing Department by the 7th working day of each month
  • Review Shipping Department Journals and incorporate into accounts by 5th working day of the month
  • Post system journals daily by 8:15 am
Back Up Duties 
  • Prepare tax computation for TDC Ltd by 9th working day of each month
  • Prepare TDC Pension Plan accounts by 4th working day of each month
  • Review the accounts and notes for Dan Dan Garments by the 3rd working day of each month
  • Review the accounts and notes for TDC Real Estate by the 4th working day of each month
  • Review the accounts and notes for TDC Rentals By 8th working day of the month
  • Review the accounts for TDC Airline Services by the 10th working day each month
  • Review Demand Deposit statements by 4th working day after end of each quarter
  • Prepare VAT allocation by 19th of the month following the end of quarter
  • Update TDC Parent trial balance and notes by 20th of month following the end of quarter
  • Update TDC Parent word file by 21st of month following the end of quarter
  • Review the expenses and accounts for TDC Shipping Dept by 8th working day of the month
  • Update and confirm intercompany sales and purchases for TDC by 20th working day of each month
  • Update and confirm the reconciliation of the intercompany sales and purchases and the intercompany balances matrix for the TDC Group by 22nd day of each month
  • Prepare TDC Group Consolidation by 27th of month following the end of quarter
  • Update TDC Group Quarterly Consolidation word file by 28th of month following the end of quarter
  • Review the accounts for St. Kitts Bottling Co. Ltd by 3rd working day of the month
  • Update National Bank Ecommerce Bank Reconciliation daily and complete by 3rd working day of the month
  • Reconcile Trade Receivables clearing accounts (TDC Nevis) daily and confirm by 18th of each month
Administrative and General Management Functions

  • Maintain an efficient Department by ensuring that:
  • Bi-annual performance appraisals are conducted for staff in the department.
  • The work environment is safe and healthy.
  • A harmonious working environment is created, and the goals and objectives of the Department are clearly communicated, understood, and achieved.
  • Staff attendance and punctuality are monitored.
  • Work plans are prepared.
  • The work of staff is properly supervised to ensure planning and adequate implementation of tasks.
  • Staff are monitored and coached daily to ensure that duties are being executed prior to the due dates.
  • Work performed by staff are thoroughly reviewed. Group Chief Financial Accountant is to be copied on emails, following the review of work performed by employees under your supervision.
  • Responses to all Department’s queries are completed/addressed in a timely manner.



Requirements
Skills:
·       Strong knowledge of GAAP and IFRS
·       Excellent written and strong communication skills
·       Excellent team working skills
·       Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel
·       Ability to work in teams

Qualifications:

·       Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
·       Master’s degree or professional qualification would be an asset
·       Previous experience in using Accounting Software
·       Five to seven years’ experience in preparing accounts.
·       Previous experience in supervising Accounting Department activities would be an asset
