The Senior Accountant assists in overseeing and executing the organization's policies and procedures related to the General Ledger. Ensures an accurate and timely close and that all transactions are appropriately recorded in accordance with GAAP and accounting standards consistent across the organization. This position will have constant interaction with other departments and resources throughout the company. This role requires an honest, transparent, and collaborative individual who is self-motivated, focused on continuous improvement, and has a risk and control mindset to ensure preparedness for both internal and external audits.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monthly General Ledger close for all business units, including determining the proper treatment of financial accrued liabilities and other general accounting transactions.
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations monthly according to an established schedule.
- Reconciliation of bank accounts. Prepare and record journal entries.
- Maintenance and reconciliation of accounting records, including prepaids, accruals, and deferred revenues, which reconcile to the Balance Sheet.
- Ensure practices are in place to prepare and maintain schedules and support documentation needed for management, internal and external reporting, and internal and external auditors.
- Perform quarterly reviews/year-end audits with internal, external, and regulatory auditors.
- Conduct annual fixed asset and inventory counts to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Oversee and assist with the implementation of new accounting standards.
- Develop standards for coordinating work with the parent company.
- Work closely with relevant personnel to understand and/or gather information about non-standard transactions.
- The ability to step into other roles to facilitate a quick and smooth month-end close is essential.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills necessary to interact with various levels of personnel.
- Must thrive in a team-oriented environment as well as demonstrate the ability to work independently within established policies and procedures.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (or equivalent degree) preferred.
- Ten years of experience in medium firm
- Experience should include preparation for and dealings with external auditors.
- Strong General Ledger knowledge with month-end closing experience, including preparation of financial statements.
- ERP system (Oracle NetSuite) experience preferred but not required.
- Bilingual (Chinese) helpful but not required.
- The position will require flexibility to step into other finance functions at times to maintain closing schedules.
