Why This Role Matters:

We are seeking an energetic Senior Accountant to join the RVI Group, finance team and play a key role in supporting the accounting and financial reporting needs of the business lines, and upstream to the parent company, Group 1001. This position will also interact externally with clients, brokers, vendors, banking partners, investment managers, and independent auditors. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, driven accounting professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and demonstrates a strong commitment to accuracy, integrity, and continuous learning.

 This individual will be responsible for assisting the Finance department with account reconciliations, financial reporting, accounts payable, and financial analysis, while supporting both routine and ad hoc accounting initiatives.

 In addition to working closely with their supervisor, this individual will collaborate with all members of the Finance team. The Senior Accountant must act with the highest level of integrity and business and personal ethical standards in all aspects of job performance.

This is a hybrid position at the Stamford, CT office 2 days per week.

How You’ll Contribute:

  • Participate in monthly, quarterly and annual close processes
  • Prepare and review account reconciliations, analyzing results and variances
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
  • Maintain fixed asset records, including additions, disposals and depreciation
  • Prepare quarterly fixed asset journal entries and reconciliations
  • Track general and specific accruals and prepare related journal entries
  • Prepare SG&A actual-to-budget reports and provide variance analysis
  • Assist with expense reviews, vendor management and disbursement controls
  • Support financial planning and analysis (FP&A) activities
  • Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements under U.S. GAAP and U.S. Statutory accounting
  • Support quarterly and annual regulatory filings with various state departments of insurance, including the NAIC and the State of Delaware
  • Prepare financial reports and management presentations
  • Compile, review and analyze financial statements
  • Support the migration and implementation of the Workday general ledger system
  • Support the migration and implementation of the Adaptive Planning budgeting and forecasting system
  • Support ad-hoc projects and perform financial analytical analyses as needed
  • Assist in maintaining and enhancing internal controls
  • Support the evaluation, implementation and ongoing maintenance of accounting systems
  • Maintain accurate and complete accounting records
  • Provide guidance and oversight to junior staff or interns, as applicable
  • Contribute positively to a culture that promotes teamwork, transparency and professional development

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Three to five years relevant accounting experience
  • Advanced Excel skills, including the use of conditional formulas, pivot tables, and data visualization
  •  Familiarity with Insurance Statutory Accounting, general ledger functions, and financial reporting and planning systems is a plus.
  • Prior insurance industry experience preferred, but not required
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, including formulas, pivot tables and charts
  • Experience using Power BI and AI-enabled tools
  • Working knowledge of general ledger systems such as SAGE300 and Workday
  • Familiarity with subledger systems such as Concur and Adaptive Planning
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new tasks and systems quickly and seek clarification when needed
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous process improvement
  • Ability to clearly communicate financial information and insights
  • Capability to manage multiple priorities independently while meeting deadlines
  • Effective team collaboration skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration abilities
