Senior Accountant

Job Summary: The Senior Accountant position is responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of more significant areas of the GAAP and statutory financial reporting and controls is expected to independently respond to questions and inquiries, investigate and resolve reporting issues, and provide support to the other Finance department professionals.

Major Accountabilities:

  1. Prepare and review internal statutory and GAAP financial statements in accordance with accounting standard requirements
  2. Prepare and review quarterly and annual statutory filings including schedules, notes, and disclosures
  3. Responsible for monthly general ledger journal entries, reconciliation of accounts and other accounting operational activities
  4. Collaborate with internal teams on accounting policies, controls, and process improvements.
  5. Assist with projects which may include reporting enhancements, software changes and upgrades, and automation.
  6. Support the corporate tax accounting functions including the preparation and compilation of documentation needed for internal reporting, tax preparation and filings, and external audits.
  7. Provide training, development, and support to other Finance team professionals
  8. Perform other duties as assigned by Management

Qualifications:

Education/Training Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA or CPA-eligible required

Experience/Specialized Skills:

  • Public accounting experience strongly preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of accounting experience
  • Financial statement preparation
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred)

 

Special Considerations:

Physical Requirements: Constant use of vision, hearing, and communication (oral and written in person and via telephone).  Frequent concentration, standing, walking, handling, reaching, and grasping.  Occasional bending, kneeling and lifting (up to 25 lbs.) Heavy use of computer and office equipment.

Travel/Hours of Service: Occasional travel may be required.  Periodic work outside of standard business hours or on weekends may be required.
