Job Description:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for the review, development of policies and procedures, and ongoing oversight of the balance sheets. This will include working with the Regional VP (RVP), Regional Operation Directors (ROD), Lab Managers, and BAs to identify areas for improvement, provide recommendations, and implement initiatives to improve profitability and cash flow. This position will need to acquire a basic understanding of the business activities for all our business units and a thorough understanding of the underlying accounting systems utilized. Proven leadership skills and experience in process improvement activities are a necessity. This position will have a significant interface with all levels of employees within the finance team, business unit operations personnel, and the IT team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monthly Close Duties:
  • Prepares month-end JEs, Sales, COGS, and accruals.
  • Work with BA to review GM, analyze, identify errors to resolve issues, and make correcting entries
  • Must be able to work with a tight deadline
  • Post Ad Hoc entries to ensure our financials are correctly stated
Business Partnership:
  • Partner with Managers, RVPs, and RODs to identify areas for improvement, provide recommendations, and implement initiatives to improve profitability and cash flow
  • Streamline finance functions by understanding process flows and making suggestions on potential improvements
  • Liaison between accounting and Operations to prepare and support audit requests by independent auditors
  • Provide Financial Education and Training to Management
Balance Sheet Initiatives
  • Report Aged Accounts Receivable balances to upper management
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a timely basis, confirming balances are correct
  • Coordinating monthly balance sheet reviews with lab managers and BAs
  • Manage the process to identify and determine month-end accrual needs for labs in coordination with Bas
  • Oversee Fixed Asset CIP and work with FA team and labs to monitor and capitalize projects that is completed
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, 5 years of Accounting Experience (not flexible)
Required skills
  • BS in Accounting
  • CPA / MBA a plus
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional accounting experience
  • Experience in an integrated system environment is desired.
  • Oracle and SAP applications are a plus.
  • Excellent personal computer skills – spreadsheet/reporting
