The Role

Overview:

Reviews and analyzes the integrity of financial information and results through compliance with firm policies and procedures and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Possesses and applies a diversified knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures to complete assignments with integrity and accuracy. Anticipates job expectations and contributes to project solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews all balance sheet accounts for accuracy for US, UK, China in reconciliations with supporting documentation on a monthly, continuing basis
  • Records and books recurring monthly journal entries, proper reclass entries, accruals, payroll entries, etc. for all companies
  • Analyzes records of financial transactions to determine accuracy and completeness of entries
  • Performs monthly closing responsibilities including preparing, analyzing and processing financial transactions (journal entries)
  • Completes projects assigned to address issues within the financials (revenue projects, contract projects, internal controls, etc.)
  • Reviews P&L for offices to ensure that activity appears reasonable on monthly variances and analysis of variances (actual to budget on P&L)
  • Reviews and prepares month-end financial reporting packets
  • May handle special accounting projects, taking responsibility for the administration and integrity of the project
  • Demonstrates a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information
  • Supports the accounting and finance departments in enhancing the firm's existing accounting procedures and internal controls and seek opportunities to improve accounting operational efficiency and effectiveness
  • Maintains accounting controls by following policies and procedures, complying with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements
  • Performs work in a manner that demonstrates an awareness of and an appreciation for the firm’s cultural values, including a commitment to quality, innovation, learning and growth
  • May act as a mentor by coaching and motivating project team members
  • Fosters and maintains a collaborative professional working relationship with the project team
  • Takes personal responsibility for fostering a green workplace through sustainable work practices
  • May collaborate in delivering a project on defined budget requirements
  • Assists in identifying and implementing cost savings ideas in collaboration with team
  • May assist in identifying, maintaining and cultivating essential relationships

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • CPA license preferred
  • Typically with 4+ years of experience
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook and Word
  • Experience in Deltek Vision preferred
  • Experience with financial reporting including footnotes
  • Strong knowledge of accounting, GAAP principles and data analytics
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of staff
  • Strong work ethic and eagerness to produce high quality, accurate results
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
  • Ability to hold sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality and integrity
  • Ability to communicate and present ideas in a clear, concise and professional manner both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to problem solve and apply appropriate solutions
  • Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment, and ability to work independently and prioritize work
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines at expected quality
