Reporting to the Controller of Amarillo Gear, the Senior Accountant will maintain assigned General Ledger accounts with journal entries and account reconciliations in compliance with company reporting requirements, assist in the construction of budgets and forecasts, analyze financial data to assist management with the growth of the company, and meet all internal, external and corporate reporting.

Accounting Position Duties

  • Prepare journal entries, monthly reconciliations, and internal & external financial reporting.
  • Maintain internal control over financial processes and reporting. Assure controls are understood and monitored, including regular risk assessments of controls. 
  • Review purchase price variances between standard costs and actual, research and report findings.
  • Assist with various aspects of inventory management, including physical inventories, inventory pricing reviews, analysis, etc. Create cycle count reports and procedures.
  • Prepare budget, forecast, estimate and projection processes, providing helpful insight into underlying revenue and cost drivers.
  • Pull customer credit reports, references and report to Controller with recommendations for terms.
  • Adequately control receivables and collections. 
  • Review standard costs, routings, and bill of materials, and work to ensure and improve accuracy. 
  • Maintain fixed asset database and tracking of construction in process, and periodic fixed assets inventories.
  • Prepare external, internal and corporate financial reporting, meeting all deadlines monthly, quarterly and annually.
  • Create purchase orders for inventory and supplies based on safety stock, current and forecasted demands. 
  • Process order acknowledgements and work with vendors to satisfy company needs.
  • Pull weekly past due reports to vendors and update scheduled delivery dates and follow-up with vendors as needed.
  • Inventory control, maintenance and inventory management, including coordinating and oversight of physical inventories, inventory pricing reviews analysis, cycle counts, forecasting and quarterly reviews of inventory safety stock and demands.
  • Complete vendor evaluations quarterly. 
  • Provide analysis and review of projects in conjunction with sales and engineering personnel.
  • Ability to maintain and supervise accounting clerk, including leadership by example for the entire team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s in accounting
  • CPA/CMA or MBA (or working towards CPA/CMA or MBA), will consider experience
  • Experience in general ledger transactions and account reconciliations
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Detail oriented, analytical thinker, team player
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to travel 25%
  • Accounting experience of 5 years

    Cost and/or manufacturing accounting experience preferred
