Position: Senior Accountant
Location: Hybrid - (Cranston, RI) (3 days onsite, 2 remote)
Duration: 5 Years
Job Description:
The Senior Accountant will oversee ledger reconciliation across state and external agencies, support financial reporting, support with annual state budget submission and maintain federal compliance. This role is well suited to someone who likes both technical accounting work and building structure in a newer program, including helping stand up a new financial management system.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
· 5+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience, preferably in government or public accounting.
· Strong general ledger experience, including reconciliations and journal entries.
· Working knowledge of GAAP and GASB.
· Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, complex formulas, large datasets)
· Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage deadlines across multiple stakeholders.
· Clear written and verbal communication with finance and non-finance staff.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Experience supporting a new ERP or financial system implementation (strongly preferred).
· Federal grant accounting experience, including 2 CFR 200 and federal financial reporting.
· Familiarity with Workday, EUNA (eCivis) and/or OpenGov.
· Experience with Power BI for financial reporting and dashboards.
· CPA preferred, candidates actively pursuing certification (e.g., exam sections passed or in progress) are encouraged to apply.
