Span is seeking a Senior Accountant to be part of our cost accounting function as we scale hardware manufacturing. This role is central to maintaining accurate product cost data, supporting financial close, and partnering with cross-functional teams to drive operational and financial performance. The ideal candidate brings deep manufacturing accounting expertise, hands-on experience with consignment arrangements, and the business acumen to work fluidly across Finance, Supply Chain, and Operations.
About You
Required Qualifications
3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including demonstrated experience in the monthly financial close cycle
Demonstrated experience identifying control gaps and implementing process automation to improve close efficiency
Experience preparing the statement of cash flows and drafting footnote disclosures for annual financial statements
Working knowledge of debt accounting, lease accounting (ASC 842), stock-based compensation (ASC 718), and commission accounting (ASC 340-40)
Experience with payroll accounting and capitalized software accounting (ASC 350-40) a plus
Strong ERP proficiency required (NetSuite preferred); advanced Excel skills
Solid command of U.S. GAAP with the ability to research technical accounting issues and clearly document conclusions
Experience supporting external audits and SOX-readiness efforts a plus
High attention to detail with strong organizational and analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
CPA or CPA candidate preferred; Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
Bonus Qualifications

Responsibilities, Duties, and Expectations:
Controls & Automation
Identify control gaps within the month-end close and design and implement enhancements to strengthen the control environment
Document accounting processes and procedures, supporting SOX readiness as Span scales
Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual work and shorten the close cycle, partnering with the broader Accounting team on ERP and close-tool enhancements
Debt Financing Accounting
Maintain debt schedules and prepare related journal entries, including interest expense, discount/premium amortization, and debt issuance cost amortization
Support covenant compliance monitoring and reporting for outstanding debt facilities
Partner with Treasury and FP&A on debt-related schedules and disclosures for financial reporting
Lease Accounting
Administer lease accounting in accordance with ASC 842 (Leases), including maintaining lease schedules, recording right-of-use assets and lease liabilities, and preparing monthly journal entries
Support audit requests related to lease obligations and reconcile lease accounting system output to the general ledger
Stock-Based Compensation, Payroll & Capitalized Software
Prepare and review stock-based compensation (ASC 718) journal entries, schedules, and related equity reconciliations
Prepare and review payroll-related journal entries and reconciliations
Partner with Engineering and Product on capitalized software costs (ASC 350-40), tracking capitalized development costs and amortization schedules
Special Entries & Accruals
Prepare and review special and non-recurring journal entries as they arise
Prepare and maintain monthly accruals, including legal accruals and other miscellaneous accruals, with appropriate support and documentation
Prepare rebate accruals and sales commission accruals (ASC 340-40), including calculation support and reconciliation against underlying data
Close Package Preparation & Reporting
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual close package materials and supporting schedules
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts and assist with flux analysis
Prepare the annual statement of cash flows (indirect method) and supporting workpapers
Draft footnote disclosures and supporting schedules for annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
Support external audit requests, including preparation of PBC items
