Job Description:
to followAbout the role:
Remitly's Order to Cash Accounting team owns the accounting for the flows that move our business — accounts receivable, customer liability, revenue, and cash. Every one of those balances is built on the Reconciliation Program, which ensures the accuracy and completeness of hundreds of millions of events annually. The Senior Accountant – OTC will lead efforts to enhance those processes and unlock value creation opportunities across the program. As an individual contributor on the OTC Accounting team, you will own the topside adjustment process — determining, supporting, and posting the manual entries required to true up the general ledger against partner statements. You will also own the revenue reasonableness workflow, rebate revenue accounting, and the recurring cost basis review, and will use Alteryx workflows for ledger reconciliation. Alongside this, you will partner with our Reconciliation Operations team, Data Engineering, and other stakeholders to drive systematic resolution, while owning the assessment and communication of the financial statement impact.
You Will:
Report to the Accounting Manager
Own the topside adjustment process end to end: identify required adjustments, calculate amounts, prepare and post journal entries with full support and a clear audit trail
Own the revenue reasonableness workflow, investigating and explaining variances between expected and recorded revenue
Own rebate revenue accounting — calculate, record, and substantiate rebate revenue and related accruals, validating inputs against partner agreements
Perform the recurring cost basis review, investigating variances and documenting conclusions
Build, run, and improve Alteryx workflows supporting ledger reconciliation, troubleshooting failures and updating logic as source data changes
Reduce reliance on topside entries over time by tracing recurring adjustments to their upstream root cause and driving systematic fixes, partnering with Reconciliation Operations, Data Engineering, and other stakeholders
Become an expert on the flow of data and events from our upstream systems to our financial systems, and own the assessment and communication of the financial statement impact of open exceptions
Deliver month-end close requirements on deadline, including reconciliations, topside entries, and balance sheet substantiation for assigned accounts
Streamline processes by utilizing AI tools available, and support technical research and testing for new projects
Ensure internal controls and procedures are documented, followed, and audit-ready, updating them as new products, partners, and payment rails launch
Support ad hoc financial information requests, audit requests, analyses, and other special projects as assigned
You Have:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or information technology and 3+ years of experience
Knowledge and a working understanding of US GAAP
Experience preparing and supporting journal entries, including manual or topside adjustments, with audit-ready documentation
Experience analyzing and working with large datasets
Experience with data quality and integrity principles and practices
Proficiency in SQL and advanced Excel
Strong written communication — able to explain a technical break and its accounting impact to non-technical stakeholders
High English fluency
