ABOUT THE ROLE
The Senior Finance Analyst will be responsible for managing month-end close activities, GL accounting, financial reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning for USA-based operations. The role requires delivering accurate and timely financial insights, analysing performance against budgets and forecasts, strengthening financial controls, and driving process improvements to support effective business decision-making.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage Accounts Payable (AP) activities, including invoice verification, vendor reconciliations, payment processing, and resolution of discrepancies.
- Oversee Accounts Receivable (AR) processes, including customer billing, invoicing, collections, and receivable reconciliations.
- Perform month-end and year-end closing activities, including account reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and technical support to junior team members and review their work when required.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams to support finance operations and business requirements.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and support the implementation of efficient finance systems and procedures.
- Manage and coordinate the monthly financial close process, ensuring accurate and timely reporting in line with established timelines.
- Perform and oversee General Ledger (GL) accounting, including journal entries, account reviews, and month-end close activities.
- Prepare, review, and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring timely resolution of outstanding items.
- Review and validate cost records and analyse cost trends by Business Unit (BU), department, and cost centre.
- Ability to prepare and maintain short-term and medium-term cash flow forecasts, incorporating expected customer collections, vendor payments, payroll, operating expenses, taxes, and other cash commitments.
- Perform detailed actual-versus-budget and periodic variance analysis, identify key cost drivers, and provide clear explanations for material variances.
- Monitor budget utilization and support effective cost control, financial discipline, and fund management.
- Strong understanding of rolling forecasts, budget revisions, financial planning cycles, and cash flow planning.
- Develop and implement improvements to finance processes and systems to minimize risk, enhance accuracy, improve productivity, and strengthen operational performance.
- Support the implementation of consistent accounting policies, procedures, and best practices across the organization.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency, and financial controls.
- Apply strong technical accounting knowledge to resolve complex accounting and operational issues.
- Take ownership of assigned objectives and independently deliver responsibilities within agreed timelines.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A strong foundation in finance, Cost Accountant, Chartered Accountant, or MBA in Finance with a good understanding of financial controls, accounting principles, and governance.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in, accounting and controlling, P&L analysis, budgeting, financial reporting, or performance management.
- The role will primarily support USA-based finance operations and stakeholders; therefore, the candidate should be comfortable collaborating across time zones.
- Willingness and flexibility to work in the night shift from 5:00 PM to 2:00 AM IST, in line with USA business requirements.
- A proactive and self-driven mindset, finding smarter ways to improve financial reporting, controls, and efficiency.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a structured, accurate, and detail-oriented manner.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to clearly communicate financial information to stakeholders.

- Experience in the shipping, logistics, freight forwarding, or transportation industry would be an added advantage.

Skills Required
