Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our accounting team. As a Senior Accountant, you will play a vital role in maintaining the financial health of our organization by performing a wide range of accounting activities. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, assisting in the year-end audit process, and identifying opportunities for process improvements and automation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform Bank Reconciliations, ensuring that cash is reconciled daily.
• Serve as the primary backup for the Accounts Payable Specialist, processing invoices and issuing payments during any periods of absence or periods of high volume.
• Prepare and post journal entries for the month-end close process, contributing to timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Perform monthly account reconciliations related to our manufacturer’s statements, proactively identifying discrepancies and effectively communicating findings to upper management and vendors. Calculate monthly payments to manufacturers, maintaining strong vendor relationships.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for the prior month, ensuring balances are supported, complete, and accurate. Prepare adjusting entries (if necessary) prior to the following month’s-end close to ensure reconciling items are cleared.
• Perform monthly P&L review and flux analysis to ensure all revenues and expenses are recorded in the proper periods and articulate why any material variances exist.
• Continuously evaluate accounting processes and identify areas for improvement and automation, streamlining workflows for increased efficiency.
• Willingly take on ad-hoc projects as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the finance team and the organization.
Critical Skills and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required, with proficiency in US GAAP. Public Accounting or Public Company experience is ideal.
• 4 plus years of relevant accounting experience, ideally in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Demonstrated proficiency in an ERP system, specifically in a vast array of subledgers.
• Familiarity with NetSuite or other Oracle ERP systems is advantageous, though not mandatory.
• Must be extremely detail oriented, organized, and self-motivated.
• Proven track record of driving process improvements and implementing best practices.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines and assist other members in meeting their deadlines as well.
• Strong Excel skills on par with look-ups, pivots, sumif, data normalization, etc.
• Desire and capability to work cross-functionally with members of the organization to understand underlying data and identify the cause of issues when problems arise with the willingness to work with team members to fix issues.
