Overview:

Reporting to an Accounting Manager, the ideal candidate will be someone with 4+ years’ experience performing accounting related duties on a professional level. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, interact with all levels throughout the Foundation and OCE. Candidate will possess organizational skills, with an exceptional commitment to accuracy, detail, and follow-up. The Senior Accountant must be adept at handling sensitive and confidential information with tact and diplomacy, using good judgment and discretion.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide accounting support for the Foundation and OCE in an environment that requires professionalism and confidentiality
  • Manages day-to-day financial operations of Strategic Planning Assistance Team process, a joint initiative of The Foundation and the Office of Catholic Education that helps schools stabilize enrollment, strengthen finances, and plan for sustainable futures
  • Assists with review of financial reports including:
    • Balance Sheet
    • Cash Flow Projection
    • Actual vs Budget Analysis
    • Budget
  • Provides feedback and guidance regarding implementation of accounting and finance best practices

  • Assists in preparation of monthly financial reports

  • Prepare data as requested internally and externally for directors, vendors, banks and auditors

  • Manages sensitive and/or confidential information

  • Prioritize projects; establish and meet deadlines; ability to multitask

  • Effectively and proactively structures work priorities with minimal direction

  • Proactively identifies improvements, makes recommendations, take the initiative and can anticipate necessary changes in the work environment

  • Pays keen attention to detail to deliver a high-quality work product with minimal direction or review of work

  • Gathers school financial metrics to assist with long term planning related to both operations and capital needs

  • Oversees the work of Foundation for Catholic Education Staff Accountant (s)

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Attention to detail and accuracy with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Efficiently manage multiple projects and competing priorities with strong time-management skills
  • Proficient skills using MS Office with strong experience using Excel
  • Familiarity with using QuickBooks
  • Strong Understanding of general ledger accounting
  • Maintains positive attitude and demonstrates the utmost in professionalism
  • The ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Completes work accurately and in a timely manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and 4+ years’ experience providing accounting support to senior level staff
