Overview of the Role
This position sits within the QBE Capital Finance team in Bermuda and plays a key role in delivering high-quality financial control and Group reporting. You will be responsible for quarterly IFRS submissions to QBE Group, while maintaining robust balance sheet governance and ensuring accuracy across a complex reporting environment.
Working closely with the Group Accounting team, the role offers strong exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to contribute to process improvements within a global insurance business.
This is a full-time, office-based position in Bermuda (no remote working). The role involves regular collaboration with international teams, including those in Australia, and will require occasional flexibility in working hours during peak reporting periods.
Your New Role:
Support month-end and quarter-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Group reporting requirements
Prepare and review journals, accruals, and intercompany eliminations with appropriate supporting documentation
Perform detailed analytical reviews of P&L and balance sheet movements, investigating and resolving variances
Own and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring timely resolution of reconciling items
Maintain and enhance financial controls in line with internal control frameworks
Support internal and external audit processes, including managing audit requests and providing high-quality evidence
Assist in statutory, regulatory, and Group reporting, including submissions to the Bermuda Monetary Authority
Support intercompany reconciliations and investigate discrepancies across global entities
Contribute to capital, treasury, and investment accounting activities
Identify process improvements and support finance transformation and automation initiatives
About You:
Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with 5+ years post-qualified experience
Strong experience in IFRS reporting and financial control, ideally within insurance or reinsurance
Background in insurance/reinsurance preferred; Big 4/practice candidates also considered
Proven experience in balance sheet reconciliations, governance, and financial reporting
Strong analytical and Excel skills; experience with Oracle Fusion, HFM or similar tools advantageous
Confident communicator with the ability to work across global teams and different time zones, with flexibility during key reporting periods
