Job DescriptionRole Summary
The Commercial Director leads the commercial partnership and operational oversight for Nielsen’s New Zealand TV Audience Measurement contract. Acting as the primary commercial lead to the Television Broadcasters Group (TBG)—comprising TVNZ & Sky NZ, this role is responsible for contract governance, multi-million dollar revenue renewals, tender submissions, and ensuring total customer satisfaction across linear and digital measurement offerings.
Key Responsibilities
1. Broadcaster Group (TBG) Governance & Client Relationship Management
Serve as Nielsen’s executive commercial lead for the NZ Television Broadcasters Group (TBG) and key industry stakeholders.
Maintain high-level relationships with executive and insights leadership across major NZ broadcasters (TVNZ, Sky NZ,) and independent auditors.
Work with the Operations lead and internal stakeholders present quarterly/monthly TBG meeting agendas, performance decks, and operational updates.
Act as the lead point of contact for strategic commercial inquiries, escalated service matters, and industry body alignment.
2. Commercial Strategy, Contract Renewals & Tender Leadership
Own revenue targets, fee structures, rate card management, and long-term contract service delivery.
Manage non-TAM software and data subscriber agreements (e.g., CMI, Ad Intel, eTAM) across broadcast entities, regional media, and government broadcast bodies (Whakaata Māori, NZ On Air).
Oversee legal compliance, third-party access agreements (TPAs), and data licensing terms to safeguard Nielsen’s proprietary assets.
3. TAM Service Delivery & Measurement Innovation
Collaborate with Operations, Data Science, and Product leadership to ensure high-quality delivery of linear ratings, streaming meters, eTAM, and fusion models.
Monitor and communicate panel methodology enhancements, including panel matrix adjustments, Establishment Survey sampling, and streaming attribution models.
Provide strategic guidance to clients on cross-platform measurement developments, co-viewing models, and market definition shifts.
4. Team Leadership & Resource Management
Direct and mentor the local commercial client service team (e.g., Senior Commercial Manager) to fulfill contractual headcount commitments for NZ TAM.
Align cross-functional support across Operations, Data Science, Legal, and Customer Success to deliver seamless service execution.
Manage account allocations, workload prioritization, and succession planning within the Pacific client service structure.
