SCHOOL OF CONTINUING EDUCATION

The School of Continuing Education (SCE), one of the seven Faculties/Schools of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) and a major provider of continuing and professional education in Hong Kong, offers a wide range of full-time and part-time programmes at the post-secondary, undergraduate and postgraduate levels for young learners and working adults. SCE also offers in-house training and short courses to meet the community needs and market demands. Operating on a self-financed basis, SCE including its College of International Education currently employ about 400 full-time staff and 550 part-time instructors. SCE is inviting applications for the following position:

Senior Academic Services Manager (Quality Assurance Support Section) (Ref. No.: 26270192)       

SCE is at an advanced stage of progressing towards its registration as a post-secondary college under the applicable law, with completion expected to be within a year. This transformation aims to enhance the internationalisation and diversification of higher education through distinctive, professional programmes that address societal manpower needs. As part of this exciting institutional evolution, successful candidates may be offered the opportunity to transition to the new post-secondary college (upon its successful registration) under a long-term development plan.

The appointee will play a key role in supporting the Head of Registry through a period of strategic change of the School by leading the quality assurance team to maintain quality and efficient operation in the following areas: (a) assisting the Head of Registry in coordinating and carrying out the Institutional Review and accreditation exercises with the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ); (b) leading and providing quality assurance-related support regarding academic quality assurance policies and procedures; programme quality assurance reporting; course evaluation exercise, administration support for programme development/revision; and statistical analysis on programme quality and (c) leading and providing secretarial support to major committees of the University/School and co-ordinating follow-ups as needed. Once this strategic development is solidified, it is planned that the role will evolve with a long-term prospect.

Requirements: 

Applicants should preferably possess a higher degree plus at least 10 years of relevant administrative experience. Experience in programme accreditation with the HKCAAVQ and/or academic quality assurance in tertiary education settings will be an advantage. The candidates should possess high proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese with computer literacy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as strong analytical skills are required. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.

The appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract ending in June 2027. Subject to performance and the decision of SCE, an offer of further appointment, if any, will be made by the new post-secondary college (upon its successful registration).

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
