SEMCO - Engineering Summer Students
SEMCO Energy provides meaningful summer employment to qualified students based on the Company's business needs. Placement is based on the student's college rank, qualifications, career goals, and prior relevant work experience.
SEMCO is seeking two Students for our Engineering teams this summer! As an Engineering Summer Student at SEMCO, you will support the Engineering teams by assisting with various projects and initiatives. This summer internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in engineering design, project support, document management, and research within the natural gas industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with engineering design and project development, which includes drafting and reviewing technical documents and drawings.
- Support the organization and management of project-related documents to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
- Conduct research on engineering-related topics, such as new technologies, regulations, and best practices.
- Perform administrative tasks to aid project timelines and deliverables, including creating presentations and reports.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Construction, and Marketing, to achieve engineering objectives.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives by identifying and documenting opportunities for greater efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Age between the age of 18 and 25.
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, civil, or related fields preferred).
- Plan to return to studies in Fall 2025 following the work term.
- Possess a valid driver's license.
- Ability to work from our Port Huron corporate office.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with AutoCAD or GIS software is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently when needed.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn.
The hourly pay rate for this role is $14 to $17 per hour, depending on college rank and returning student status.
