We are seeking a part-time Security Officer to help maintain order and a safe environment on College property, prevent loss and damage, secure buildings and facilities, enforce College policy and regulations, and assist students, faculty, and staff with security concerns.  The Security Officer also fosters positive relations with students, staff, and members of the community by providing information, assistance, and advice as appropriate.


This is a hourly, part-time position.  The shift hours for the position may vary.  

Example of Duties:

  • Patrol areas and staff posts to maintain order and security
  • Greet students, staff, and members of the community; represent the College in a positive manner
  • Report accidents, security incidents, and criminal activity; prepare and file written reports
  • Check the identification of persons on College property
  • Assist in the orderly evacuation of persons in the event of a fire alarm or other emergency
  • Direct traffic and monitor parking lots
  • Deliver and pick up packages or passengers, as assigned
  • Respond to emergencies in accordance with Security Department procedures
  • Accompany students, faculty, and staff to their vehicles, as assigned
  • Operate ID imaging and database equipment, and security communications equipment, as assigned
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required
  • Some related work or military experience required
  • A valid driver's license is required

The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.

Compensation: Compensation is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The minimum hourly pay for this position is $16.
