Vast is looking for a Security Officer I reporting to the Senior Supervisor, Security, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.
This will be a full-time, non-exempt position located in our Long Beach location.
We are currently hiring for the below schedules:
- Weekday Morning Shift: Monday-Friday: 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM
- Weekday Mid-day Shift: Monday-Friday: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM
Key Responsibilities
- Verify the identity and point of contact of all visitors, ensuring compliance with facility access procedures.
- Issue and manage visitor and temporary employee badges, ensuring only authorized individuals enter designated areas.
- Conduct routine patrols of all buildings, perimeter areas, and critical infrastructure to detect and deter unauthorized activity.
- Observe, document, and report any suspicious behavior, security violations, or safety concerns to security management.
- Escort vendors and contractors as required, ensuring compliance with facility security protocols.
- Provide security assistance to other departments as needed, including support for special events or operational activities.
- Maintain accurate and detailed incident reports, shift logs, and security documentation.
- Respond professionally to security-related inquiries, safety concerns, and emergency situations in accordance with company policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall security mission.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to lift 25lbs
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- BSIS Guard Card
- Two or more years of experience in security operations, preferably in an industrial, aerospace, or manufacturing environment.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Strong customer service skills with a professional and courteous demeanor
- Ability to de-escalate situations verbally and maintain composure under pressure.
- Prior BSIS or equivalent security training, such as de-escalation tactics, report writing, or defensive tactics.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and concise incident reports.
- Ability to work independently while following security procedures and protocols.
Additional Requirements
- Must be available to work all required shifts, including overtime, weekends, and holidays, based on operational needs.
- Ability to stand, walk, and conduct patrols for extended periods across various terrains.
- Must be able to work in various climate conditions, including heat, wind, and cold.
