Role Summary

The Splunk Global Security (SGS) organization is seeking a Security Risk Analyst. This position provides risk owners with the information they need to make informed risk decisions. Risk management is a core function of Splunk's Security team and this role is responsible for performing technical security risk assessments, writing risk reports, monitoring mitigation plans and assessing residual risk as part of the continuous risk management lifecycle.

You will serve as a risk analyst who partners with engineering teams across Splunk to design solutions that will mitigate critical product and business related technical risks. Maintaining positive relationships with technical leaders across Splunk is fundamental to the success of this role.

Our SGS organization is led by Splunk's Chief Information and Security Officer (CISO). The team's purpose is to deliver a comprehensive set of services, crafted to successfully defend and protect Splunk and its customers. This role would report to the Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) Team within the SGS organization. Responsibilities

• Build and facilitate technical risk assessment exercises, leveraging AI-assisted assessment tools and outputs where applicable.
• Prepare and present risk findings, metrics, and trend reporting — adapting communication style for technical audiences and business/leadership audiences.
• Monitor and report risks on a continual basis, including tracking remediation plans against SLA targets and escalating aged or overdue risks.
• Review and process risk exception requests, assessing residual risk and appropriate compensating controls.
• Maintain data quality and completeness of the risk register (ownership, treatment plans, due dates, closure criteria).
• Support internal and external audits by providing evidence, documentation, and walkthroughs of risk management processes.
• Collaborate and maintain strong working relationships across engineering teams and business units to support organizational objectives.
• Lead difficult conversations professionally and apply judgment to assess criticality and prioritize efforts in alignment with organizational goals.

Must-have Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required. Professional certification(s) such as GIAC, CISSP, CRISC, CISM, CISA, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer/Auditor, CCSK, CCSP, etc.
• 3-5 + years performing hands-on technical risk assessments in a security risk management role.
• Demonstrable technical knowledge in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) — able to read an architecture and identify where a control gap creates real risk, not just describe cloud concepts generally

• Hands-on assessment experience against risk management frameworks (e.g., NIST CSF/RMF, ISO 27001/27002, ISO 42001) — not just familiarity with the standards.

• Proficient with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Microsoft 365 Suite, and AI tools (e.g., Claude, Codex)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Splunk products, including SPL proficiency and building Splunk dashboards/reports, is a plus!
• Basic scripting/data skills (e.g., Python, SQL) for building risk metrics and automation.
• Ability to thrive in ambiguity and bring structure to complex, unstructured problemsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for technical and business/leadership audiences; highly organized with strong documentation skills and attention to detail.
