Securities Lending Trader
London
Vanguard is seeking a highly motivated and analytically minded professional to join our Securities Lending team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with market participants, trading desks, portfolio managers, and industry stakeholders while contributing to the ongoing success and growth of Vanguard's securities lending program.
About the Role
As a Securities Lending Trader, you will generate risk-adjusted alpha/revenue through the strategic lending of global securities, identify market opportunities, and build relationships with broker-dealers and market participants. Operating in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, you will balance commercial opportunity, risk, and client outcomes while navigating rapidly changing market conditions.
Success in this role requires strong commercial instincts, sound judgment, and the ability to influence outcomes through effective negotiation. The most successful traders thrive in ambiguity and use probabilistic thinking to make high-quality decisions with incomplete information, understanding that waiting for perfect certainty often means missing the opportunity. Increasingly, traders leverage data, analytics, automation, and AI-driven tools to uncover opportunities, improve decision-making, and scale their impact.
This role is ideal for individuals who are naturally competitive, commercially minded, intellectually curious, and energized by operating in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. The most successful securities lending traders are equal parts market expert, negotiator, strategist, and problem solver, with a relentless focus on delivering results for clients
