This role has a hybrid work schedule (2 days onsite) and we are considering candidates based in Portsmouth, NH, Boston, MA, Plano, TX, Indianapolis, IN and Columbus, OH.
Job Introduction:
Are you a passionate and experienced Scrum Master/Delivery Lead ready to make a meaningful impact. We're on the lookout for a talented Scrum Master II candidate to join our innovative USRM Personal Lines Policy Platform software engineering organization! As a key driver of our Safeco policy delivery and product teams, your influence will extend across the organization, supporting a portfolio that plays a critical role in driving our company's profitability.
This position blends the responsibilities of a traditional Scrum Master with those of a Delivery Lead, beginning with a focus on our flagship property initiative. Over time, you'll have opportunities to expand into other areas-Specialty, Auto, Enhancements-and contribute to a variety of technology initiatives that shape the future of our business.

In this exciting role, you will be the heartbeat of our ecosystem (Policy Data) guiding a
diverse group of software development and engineering teams toward excellence. Your
mission? To cultivate a thriving and mature agile delivery environment that inspires
collaboration, creativity, and continuous improvement. As a key partner to Product Owners (POs), Engineering Managers (EMs), and team leads, you'll play a pivotal role in fostering an agile culture that not only meets but exceeds expectations. You'll lead the charge in delivering high-quality software solutions while helping teams navigate the dynamic landscape of our technology initiatives.

This role will be a hybrid Delivery Lead/Scrum Master Role, The ideal canidate will be someone adept in agile fundamentals and principals with experience driving projects to completion, working through dependency management, identifying and highlighting bottlenecks (e.g. requirements readiness, backlog health etc) to get complex programs/projects out the door.

About the job:
Delivery:
  • Facilitates and coordinates portfolio planning process including Agile Program Increment planning events (kick-offs, portfolio/train/program retrospectives, etc.) and managing dependencies, risks & issues.
  • Aligning teams with technology priorities, resolving cross-team dependencies, and leveraging data and insights to drive stronger product impact.
  • Orchestrating delivery flow across portfolios, ensuring stakeholder alignment, and improving overall portfolio performance.
  • Coaching and Mentoring:
  • Provide guidance and support to agile teams, helping them understand and implement agile principles and practices effectively.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Data and Metrics Insights:
  • Leverage planning and reporting tools to provide insights into product delivery, team health and excellent engineering practices.
  • Ensure that teams maintain visibility and transparency in their processes, identifies data to measure/analyze and coaches others on how to use the data being captured.
  • Opportunity Identification: Actively identify areas for improvement within teams,
  • including process enhancements, team dynamics, and overall workflow efficiency.
  • Champion innovative solutions to enhance productivity.
  • Impediment and Blocker Removal: Proactively identify and remove impediments that hinder team progress.
  • Work collaboratively with teams to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
  • Issue Escalation: Monitor team dynamics and project progress, escalating issues to
  • leadership when necessary to ensure timely resolution and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Collaboration with Sr. Scum Masters, Product Owners, Engineering Managers to cultivate and maintain an engaging and sustainable work environment.
  • Facilitate open communication and collaboration among stakeholders.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor`s degree in a relevant field (business, computer science, humanities, etc.).
  • Minimum 5+ years of Scrum Master experience.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Certified Agile Coach (ICP-ACC), or equivalent) are a plus.
  • Track record of delivery by leading, coordinating and alignment of teams to secure business outcomes.
  • Proven experience as a Scrum Master, preferably within a portfolio or multi-team environment.
  • Strong understanding of agile methodologies, principles, and frameworks.
  • Proficiency in using agile project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Power BI) for tracking and reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Effective facilitation skills at the team level; remains neutral, applies conflict management & establishes trust. Coaching and mentoring skills.

Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
