Position Overview

The Scientist will independently provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), supporting laboratory research on sensory coding and neural plasticity in the mammalian olfactory bulb. Responsibilities include designing and conducting experiments using multi-electrode recording, slice and in vivo whole-animal electrophysiological recordings, and recordings in response to optogenetic light stimulation; maintaining laboratory notebooks and databases; analyzing data and preparing figures, summaries, reports, and presentations; and training and mentoring junior staff on multi-electrode recording methods. A Master's degree in a related discipline and three years of experience are required, along with a background in Biology, proficiency in MS Office, and strong data presentation skills.

This role has a market-competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation range listed below. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location.
