Job Description Summary

Are you looking to apply your expertise in process development to optimize and scale innovative protein production processes? STEMCELL Technologies, Canada’s largest biotechnology company, is seeking a Scientist to join the Process Development (PAD) Biologics Upstream team, supporting both cGMP and research-use-only manufacturing through data-driven scientific approaches.
As a Scientist, you will lead and execute upstream process development, from experimental design through scale-up and technology transfer, ensuring robust and efficient production processes. You will analyze complex datasets, generate actionable insights, and contribute to the successful transition of new products into manufacturing. Acting as a subject matter expert, you will collaborate across cross-functional teams, support technical decision-making, and help drive continuous improvement while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute development batches, including design, risk assessment, development, and transfer of safe, efficient, and robust processes

  • Analyze experimental data, draw clear conclusions, present findings to cross-functional teams, and develop and transfer SOPs into manufacturing

  • Lead and participate in non-conformance root cause investigations, supporting the execution of corrective and preventative actions (CAPAs)

  • Collaborate internally by mentoring and training team members and externally by managing communications with vendors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies; prepare technical reports and chair technical meetings
