The OpportunityWe are seeking a highly motivated and creative Scientist 3 to join the Department of Antibody Engineering within Genentech Research and Early Development (gRED). In this wet-lab-focused role, you will lead the design and characterization of next-generation antibody therapeutics, supporting both pipeline projects and advanced technology development. We are looking for a self-driven individual who excels at troubleshooting and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to move projects forward. Your core responsibilities will include engineering and experimentally characterizing novel antibody formats and analyzing high-quality data to inform critical project decisions.
Who You AreYou have a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Biophysics, Molecular and Cell Biology, Structural Biology, or Chemical Biology.
Expertise in molecular biology techniques as well as protein characterization/engineering are essential.
Prior antibody engineering or drug development expertise are not essential, and the position provides an excellent environment to build these skills.
Highly motivated individual who is proactive, resourceful, and organized.
Demonstrated ability and desire to learn new techniques and problem-solve.
This position requires working effectively within multidisciplinary teams from our Research and Development organizations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role.
Sustained record of productivity and innovation in the form of publications or patents.
Hands-on experience with yeast, phage, or mammalian display platforms is a plus.
Proficiency in cell culture, flow cytometry, in vitro screening assays is a plus.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $103,400 - $192,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
