The School Accountant is an administrator in support of the school Principal and is responsible for the overall accounting operations for the school.
Financial
- Maintains accuracy of all financial files and records and establishes a responsible cash flow management system.
- Prepares, administers, and reviews budget process for the school which is subject to review and/or approval by the School Finance Council, as required.
- Analyzes and makes recommendations pertaining to financial decisions and questions facing the School.
- Acts as liaison between the school and the diocese in financial matters.
- Coordinates and reviews school organizations and student funds.
- Oversees accounting services as A/R, A/P, GL, Collections, etc.
- Provides professional accounting support to school staff.
- Manages school tuition system (FACTS), including billing, collections, and all aspects of tuition assistance (scholarships: private and state funds).
- Works closely with parents regarding tuition and fee payments.
- Reconciles credit cards and bank statements.
- Any other duties as assigned by the principal.
- AA or BS degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar position.
- Knowledge of QuickBooks.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Understands importance of maintaining confidentiality.
- Able to handle multi-task simultaneously and work independently.
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite (word, power point, excel).
- Must be able to pass the DOV accounting assessment test.
- Must be able to pass a level 2 background screening.
