Responsible for all aspects of surgery process including all verifying insurance; pre-operative certifications and authorizations; complete necessary hospital forms; scheduling patient for any pre-operative labs, testing and coordination of post-surgery care

Responsibilities
  • Adheres to and supports the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources, the Tenet HIPAA Compliance Plan, and the Tenet Corporate Compliance Program's Code of Conduct.

  • Triage surgical candidates as required by the physicians.

  • Educate patients about planned surgery.

  • Verify insurance information in the electronic system.

  • Obtain insurance authorizations as required by individual plans prior to surgery.

  • Obtain medical clearances and coordinate preoperative testing in concert with surgeons and per hospital protocols.

  • Work with appropriate hospital personnel to obtain necessary information for surgery scheduling.

  • Confirm and reschedule return appointments, as necessary.

  • Notify manager with patient account and insurance issues.

  • Provide assistance to administrative or clinical staff as needed; other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma/GED required with completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program 

Certification: CMA preferred, CPR required 

Experience: Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience working in a physician office with previous surgery scheduling experience strongly preferred. 

Other Requirements: Occasional local travel to support other offices.
