A Brief Overview
The Stanford Blood Center Account Representative is responsible for engaging members and organizations within the community including entities in the corporate, educational and congregational sectors to establish and develop successful mobile blood drive operations with the goal of ensuring a safe and adequate blood supply for the hospitals and patients we serve.

What you will do
- Schedule, develop and execute effective mobile blood drives. Collaborate with department management, develop and implement strategies to increase blood collection on mobile blood drive operations. Manage all mobile blood drive accounts assigned following C-I-Care Standards. Maintain accurate records in recruitment software and technologies, participate in mobile calendar planning and provide Coordinator recognition. Sustain accounts with timely correspondence including drive results. Maintain a 90% projection accuracy average. Meet set blood collection goals a minimum of 9 out of 12 months per year. Attend blood drives and meets with Blood Drive Coordinators consistently to ensure blood drives are scheduled based on accurate and relevant information to ensure accuracy of donor and product projections. Examples: Stay in consistent contact with Blood Drive Coordinators to continue to schedule viable repeat blood drives. Work to schedule blood drives weekly, monthly, and annually based on inventory need, providing a consistent collection of blood products. Evaluate mobile calendar to ensure blood drives are scheduled to provide maximum opportunity to blood donors. Maintain competency in all recruitment software. Learn new strategic practices for donor recruitment and uses them based on inventory and drive development need.
- Identify new corporate, educational, and community groups and organizations that are suitable for hosting mobile or center blood drives. Engage and communicates with groups and individuals to establish strong partnerships with the community that will grow mobile blood collection operations. Examples: Research new and existing corporations and community groups using electronic and paper means.Contact viable groups for blood drive opportunities. Report progress to departmental manager.
- Become visible within the community and educate the public by making presentations to a variety of organizations in the corporate, educational, and community sectors in the areas of blood drive logistics and expectations including collection goals and drive requirements, blood types, different donation types, donor eligibility, AABB standards, and can effectively communicate these topics to a diverse community, both groups and individuals. Examples: Develop presentations and collaborates with others to inform the community, blood drive coordinators, and potential blood donors on the importance of blood donation. Examples: high schools, Rotary Clubs, health fairs, corporate presentations, and potential mobile partners.
- Collaborate on the development of programs to maintain or increase the donor base as needed, such as; donor retention programs, working with the media, minority recruitment, special events, holiday promotions, and critical inventory need communication. Examples: Meet with other SBC stakeholders to evaluate and discuss materials used in donor recruitment and overall Stanford Blood Center awareness. Inform appropriate SBC stakeholders of media opportunities and requests. Use approved recruitment messaging to increase collections. Inform Blood Drive Coordinators of critical needs and other important information. Ensure that blood drives are scheduled according.
- Coordinate all events and activities with Donor Recruitment, Collections, Marketing/Communications, and community partners to assure smooth integration of all aspects relating to the scheduling of drives, operational growth, donor recruitment and drawing of donors. Examples: Convey directions and other pertinent blood drive information to appropriate teams within timelines defined by departmental manager. Initiate projects within timelines defined by departmental manager.
- Market SBC blood program by collaborating, designing and producing publicity and educational materials, and tailoring recruitment programs to fit community needs. Examples: Act as reviewer for draft publicity, website landing pages. Offer suggestions to Marketing/Communications colleagues on messaging.
- Comply with governmental regulations and Stanford Health Care and Blood Center policies regarding health and safety. Observe and support good health and safety practices.
- Strictly observe privacy and security related policies, procedures and practices to preserve the integrity and confidentiality of medical and other sensitive information pertaining to donors, patients, research subjects, and employees. Act as a responsible information steward and treats information as sensitive and confidential in accordance with federal and state laws and with professional ethics, accreditation standards and legal requirements. Do not disclose protected health information inappropriately.
- May be required to enter areas where other individuals work with human blood; potential may exist for unanticipated exposure to bloodborne pathogens by splash or spill.
Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED Required
Experience Qualifications
- 2+ years to 3 years experience in blood banking, marketing, or customer excellence Required

- Must have excellent organizational skills, diplomacy, creativity, and flexibility.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds.
- English required.

- Competent in Microsoft Office applications required. Comfortable learning new computer software.
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends as job demands.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $34.11 - $43.48 per hour
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
