GENERAL FUNCTION:
The SBA Market Specialist is responsible for the origination, closing and servicing of government guaranteed small business loans; as well as promoting SBA lending products within the 5/3 organization. Does this while simultaneously meeting established business results and client expectations within an assigned territory.
Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Achieve target for annualized loan production as measured by both net revenue and loan amount while operating within the Bank's tolerance for each risk category. Eligible products are SBA 7(a) and 504, USDA, and other conventional loans with government guarantee components.
Identify qualified prospects by soliciting alternative loan products through internal sources such as prospecting, networking, joint calling and community development opportunities. These activities may also include: marketing through external and internal seminars.

Develop and maintain internal relationships with Business Banking, Retail and Commercial relationship managers by serving as a liaison to promote the Bank's alternative lending products.
Develop and maintain external relationships with various governmental and community agencies by serving as a liaison to promote the Bank's alternative lending products.
Responsible for the written analysis, recommendation and coordination with Middle Office to prepare loan documents.
Participate in the origination, closing, packaging, servicing and if necessary, the liquidation of SBA loans to conform with U.S. Small Business Administration standard operating procedures as well as with the Bank's policies and regulatory compliance.
Balance Risk and Return measured by any charge offs that result in loss of income within the first 12 months. Also actively engage in credit and risk management policy and processes including servicing and liquidation requests as needed.
Utilize LOB Playbook and Consultative Sales behaviors to be a trusted advisor to our clients resulting in strong client experience (internally and externally) retention/penetration and One Bank execution.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Must have extensive knowledge of U.S. Small Business Administration loan programs and other federal, state and municipal alternative lending products.
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Finance or related business field, or 4 years related experience.
Minimum 5 years Commercial banking experience or 5 years sales and underwriting experience.
Proven track record of self motivated success in external sales/ sourcing and creation of new sales relations.
Ability to analyze complex financial data in order to make sound credit decisions.
Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills.
Advanced to intermediate PC skills.

The base salary for this position is reflective of the range of salary levels for all roles within this pay grade across the U.S. Individual salaries within this range will vary based on factors such as role, relevant skillset, relevant experience, education and geographic location. In addition to the base salary, this role is eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan, with any such payment based upon company, line of business and/or individual performance.
