The Opportunity
As the Testing & Automation Engineer, SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud, you will be the quality and automation backbone of Ford Energy’s SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud environment, reporting to the SAP Implementation & Integration Lead. This is a critical, hands-on individual-contributor role responsible for building and maintaining the automated testing framework that gives the organization the flexibility to move fast without breaking things. You will design and execute test automation strategy using Tricentis Tosca, ensure every release meets a high bar for quality, and manage the regression and validation testing required to keep Ford Energy current through frequent S/4HANA Public Cloud upgrade cycles.
This role is foundational to enabling a lean, high-velocity SAP organization that can adopt new capability quickly and confidently.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
1. Test Automation Strategy & Tooling
Own the design, build, and continuous improvement of the automated testing framework across Ford Energy’s SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud landscape.
Build automation: Design, script, and maintain automated test suites using Tricentis Tosca for core business processes, integrations, and configuration changes.
Expand coverage: Continuously identify and close gaps in automated regression coverage as new processes, integrations, and modules are onboarded.
Maintain the framework: Keep the test automation framework current with SAP’s object model and public cloud release changes so tests remain reliable and low-maintenance.
2. Release Quality & Upgrade Management
Serve as the quality gatekeeper for SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud releases, ensuring changes and upgrades are validated before they reach production.
Plan test cycles: Define and execute test plans for quarterly SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud upgrades, patches, and feature releases.
Manage upgrade validation: Coordinate regression testing across impacted business processes for each public cloud release, minimizing disruption and downtime.
Drive release sign-off: Provide clear, data-backed go/no-go recommendations to leadership based on test results and defect severity.
Own defect management: Track, triage, and drive resolution of defects identified during testing cycles in partnership with functional and technical teams.
3. Quality Governance & Continuous Improvement
Establish the testing standards, metrics, and best practices that make quality a repeatable, scalable discipline rather than a one-off event.
Define standards: Establish test case design, coverage, and documentation standards for the SAP organization.
Report on quality: Maintain dashboards and metrics on test coverage, pass/fail rates, and defect trends to give leadership visibility into release health.
Improve efficiency: Identify opportunities to reduce manual testing effort and cycle time through smarter automation and reusable test assets.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner across the SAP delivery team and business stakeholders to ensure testing keeps pace with the speed of change.
Coordinate with functional teams: Work with SAP functional and technical teams to understand change scope and translate it into test scenarios.
Support business validation: Enable and guide business users through user acceptance testing (UAT) as needed.
Partner with SI/vendor teams: Coordinate testing activities with system integrator or managed services partners supporting the SAP landscape.
