About the role:   

The Quality Test Engineer II - Salesforce engages directly with global, multi-functional teams to provide technical testing in support of strategic development and enhancement of the Customer Relationship Management application (Salesforce).  This includes, but is not limited to, direct engagement with technical and end-user teams, assessment and advancement of complementary Salesforce release and test automation technologies, and alignment to overarching Salesforce Operations development objectives.

The Quality Test Engineer II - Salesforce acts as the business-facing Subject Matter Expert for the Salesforce technology stack during the development test cycle; primary responsibilities include end-user documentation of test plans and procedures, evaluating business requirements in relation to testing approach, stakeholder support during UAT and various phases of the development and testing lifecycle, and execution of required test plans.  The primary objective of this role is to ensure that Elsevier has a functionally sound and stable Salesforce deployment, and that the desired level of business support is being achieved in test-related phases of development.

Key responsibilities: 

     

  • Work directly with various user groups and technical development teams; direct accountability for execution of development-related testing and end-user engagement during test phases; ensure projects delivered are on time and free of defects.

  • Work closely with development and business teams to ensure defined requirements are feasible based upon current product structure.

  • Provide system and business process expertise when scoping test plans in relation to development requirements.

  • When developing test plans, review solution summaries where appropriate to ensure adherence to best practices and fit-for-purpose, user-focused development

  • Demonstrable growth mindset; enthusiastic about learning new technologies quickly and applying the gained knowledge to improve the development and test cycles.

  • Determination and application of testing methodology/methodologies to ensure overarching quality on a vast range of projects

  • Develops strong documentation that proves the quality of solutions under review; this documentation includes but is not limited to test plans, test strategies, test cases and/or testing matrix.

  • Applies advanced Salesforce technical principles and concepts; contributes to the development of new principles and concepts.

  • Testing in relation to new integrations and existing integration troubleshooting

  • Works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range goals and objectives; work checked through consultation and agreement with business stakeholders more often than by formal review of superior.

Requirements:  

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS, or related field preferred

  • 4+ years of previous testing experience with Salesforce.

  • Salesforce Certified Advanced QA Lead certification preferred.

  • Salesforce Certified Platform App Builder certification preferred.

  • Scrum / Agile software development methodology experience.

  • Ability to analyse and evaluate projects to determine the best test approach/methodology.

  • Experience implementing or working within newly implemented Salesforce Orgs preferred.

  • Strong understanding of how to build and support highly scalable and reliable solutions on the Salesforce Platform

  • Proven ability to identify and resolve complex and ambiguous technical issues.

  • Demonstrated test lead success with at least one large Salesforce Org

  • Understanding of UI design principles and best practices

  • Communication skills for both a technical and business audience

  • Ability to deal with and balance multiple priorities.

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and rapid change.
