Job Summary:

The Strategic Sales Director will be responsible for developing significant new business with existing Tango Card customers. Often collaborating with the Customer Success Managers to identify important customer expansion opportunities in order to own the effort to drive new sales. 

In this role, you will be developing target prospects among existing clients who do not currently have business development coverage, as well as implementing client expansion strategies. You will be charged with identifying customers who have significant expansion potential, offering new programs, and identify innovative solutions that customers may not have thought about in order to win enterprise level new business opportunities. 

The successful candidate will possess extensive sales experience in a related industry and the ability to proactively generate new business expansion opportunities with existing customers. An outstanding strategic sales director will be someone who has a customer solutions-oriented approach, outstanding discovery process, internal collaboration skills, tenacity to pursue complex and sometimes long sales cycle opportunities, and sales expertise resulting in significant new sales. This position is responsible for achieving a designated sales quota.

Reports To: VP of SalesAs the Strategic Sales Director at Tango Card, you will:

  • Develop and implement client relationship expansion strategies with the intent of growing customer spend through new programs, additional use cases, and innovative solutions.
  • Effective discovery skills to identify potential new business opportunities.
  • Strong work ethic and diligence in identifying new business opportunities, as well as being highly organized and proactive.
  • Skilled collaborator with internal business partners and eager to work in a team-based environment with Customer Success Managers. Many opportunities will depend on joint efforts between this role and the CS team.
  • Establish efficient communication channels and liaising between key clients and internal departments.
  • Recommend and participate in making improvements to the management of key client relationships to help retain clients and grow sales.
  • Handle client queries and find innovative solutions for complex customer opportunities. Leverage leadership teams and key internal partners by taking a highly strategic approach to solution selling.
  • Monitor sales performance metrics and meet aggressive sales expectations.
  • Perform recordkeeping within Salesforce, as well as prepare sales forecasts and reports.
  • Eagerness to continuously improve sales skills, as well as openness to constructive feedback and coaching.

To be effective in our Strategic Sales Director role, you must have:

  • 5+ years demonstrated ability in B2B sales roles in a related industry
  • Demonstrated success in meeting and exceeding sales quotas
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems resulting in new business opportunities
  • Skilled in prospecting, generating, and qualifying new business opportunities
  • Ability to negotiate

Our ideal Strategic Sales Director at Tango Card will have most of the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business management, marketing, or a related field, preferred.
  • Gift card industry or payments experience high desirable.
  • Knowledge of client relationship management strategies & sales performance metrics
  • Previous experience using Salesforce
  • Skilled in building interpersonal relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers
  • Skilled at customer discovery and complex solution selling
