SR SOLUTIONS ARCHITECT POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Solution Architect’s role is to provide pre-sales strategy and solutions to members of the Rackspace Enterprise Sales teams. The Rackspace portfolio is a broad mix of technologies, platforms, dedicated private clouds like OpenStack, VMWare, Hyper-V, and multi-tenant public clouds like AWS, Azure, and Google. The goal of the Senior Solution Architect is to guide customers to a solution that best fits their business needs. The Senior Solution Architect is part of a team that designs the largest and most complex environments at Rackspace for eCommerce, Web Content Management, Email, Business Applications, SaaS, Private Clouds, and many others.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

· Primarily involved in the technical pre-sales process working alongside Rackspace Client Executives to assess clients’ business needs and narrow down the potential technical solutions and platforms that would be the best fit for client environments and business goals

· Support the transition from pre to post-sales by transferring knowledge and solution design documents to the implementation team or build engineers

· Demonstrate knowledge and value of technologies, platforms, dedicated private clouds (OpenStack, VMWare, Hyper-V), and multi-tenant public clouds (AWS, Azure, and Google)

· Orchestrate technical resources and leverage subject matter experts in the overall solution design

· Convey thorough knowledge of sales and service delivery processes with demonstrated success in closing complex business (multiple customer touchpoints and multi-month sales cycle)

· Create Visio/Lucid Chart diagrams depicting the architected solution

· Articulate value proposition, present product information, and build value throughout the sales process with all departments of the customer's organization

· Perform necessary research of third-party technologies, tools, and applications that are introduced during the pre-sales process

· Contribute to sales process improvement, including developing knowledge bases, creating sales tools, and mentoring other Solution Engineers and Architects

· Leverage training, education, and previous experience to gather customer requirements, respectfully challenge customer assumptions, and translate into a Rackspace supportable solution

· Identify decision-makers and build extensive networks to help facilitate lead generation, with an emphasis on technical influencers

· Foresee potential technical and business customer objections early in the sales cycle

· Develop deep relationships with sales and support contacts to deliver advanced strategic account planning including methods for generating additional business opportunities and cross-selling within an organization

· Maintain thorough knowledge of the entire Rackspace portfolio and be a subject matter expert for multiple sections within the portfolio

 

SKILLS/ABILITIES/REQUIREMENTS

Ability to take an objective approach when selecting the technology solution that is in clients’ best interests, regardless of personal preference

Self-motivated with a proven track record working with public and private cloud technologies

Ability to maneuver through sales obstacles using creative and adaptive approaches

Innately service-oriented and always communicating with respect and professionalism

Comfortable in the dynamic atmosphere of a technical organization with a rapidly expanding customer base

Ability to prioritize deals, training, and initiatives through highly effective time management

Excellent problem solving, analytical, presentation, and whiteboarding skills

Lifelong learner who embraces the opportunity to learn from others and grow from past experiences and projects

· Requires 9+ years of solution architecture experience or specialty domain experience (

· Track record of success working through technical challenges within enterprise organizations

· Advanced knowledge and thought leadership on technology and industry trends that affect hosting decisions for enterprise organizations

· Experience navigating complex deals around internal obstacles to ensure revenue realization

· Any of the following industry certifications are a plus: Linux+, RHCSA, RHCE, MCSE, MCSA, MCITP, CCNA, OpenStack, AWS Solution Architect, Google Cloud Architect

· Candidate must have the unrestricted right to work in the US without requiring sponsorship.

· Travel: 30-50%

The anticipated starting pay range of Colorado applicants for this role is 137K-219K
