The Technical Services Team:

The Technical Services team at JW Player plays a big part in the continued success of the business. Not only does the team focus on the technical sales activities but also they work with customers post-sales building excellent client relationships and driving customer satisfaction.   

The Opportunity:

JW Player’s APAC team will provide world-class technical guidance and solution design to JW Player’s largest prospects, customers and partners in the region. This role is an essential link between our Sales, Account Management and Product teams to demonstrate the technology value of our Player and Platform products. The Sales Engineer is the technical representative in the regional team and works directly with the Account Executive on new prospect sales as well as with the Account Manager on supporting existing customers and growing their business with JW.

As a Sales Engineer, you will:

  • Represent JW Player in every technical interaction in the field, both in pre-sales opportunities as well as in the development of existing client relations.
  • Work with the regional sales and account team members to achieve commercial targets.
  • Act as the customer’s main technical point of contact and lead the sale to a technical close
  • Confidently present and articulate the technical business value of our solutions and products to customers and stakeholders.
  • Confidently communicate with customers around raising requirements, fixing bugs and resolving queries and provide them a level of confidence.
  • Work hand-in-hand with the regional pod in India and the larger team in APAC, to align on goals, initiatives and market expansion. 
  • Understand the competitive landscape in video technology, and position JW Player product value in that ecosystem
  • Manage and execute client-facing information gathering and demos of JW Player's products and deliver technical pre-sales presentations focused on the needs of prospective publishers, broadcasters and e-learning customers.
  • Support the RFI/RFP process by providing thorough responses to technical requirements
  • Gather feedback in terms of trends in the market, and surface that to the product teams
  • Constantly improve, increase value and be an essential part of the JW Player Sales Team

Requirements for the role:

  • 3+ years experience as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect or related Advertising/Video product experience
  • Strong presentation skills including experience presenting technical details to a wide-ranging audience
  • Experience working with Digital Video
  • Excellent writing skills for responding to RFI/RFPs and for business communications with customers
  • Competency in reading and writing front-end or mobile development and backend scripting (JavaScript, HTML, CSS)
  • Understanding of the Video Ad Tech ecosystem, including Programmatic Advertising and Video Header Bidding
  • Demonstrated experience in problem identification and resolution with hands-on approach to solving tactical and strategic problems of a technical nature
  • Experience interfacing with Product & Marketing to maximize message, sales and client acquisition
  • Successfully handle the ever-changing landscape of sales and product
  • Solutions focused attitude and delight in interacting with clients
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and pay attention to details
  • Proficient in English both written and verbal

Bonus Points:

  • Technical sales or support in SaaS organizations, preferably Video or Ads Tech
  • Experience with backend development (PHP, Python, NodeJS, GO)
  • Experience with Value Selling Methods
  • Experience with DRM and/or Video Live Streaming
