BASIC PURPOSE: Responsible for estimating, design, and engineering required to provide construction drawings for alternative fueling (CNG, EV, Hydrogen, Solar, RNG, etc.). Work with internal and external equipment and design resources, assist in ordering equipment, assist with reviewing contract documents, coordinating with permitting agencies, and interfacing with the Project Managers (PM), customer, contractors, and Operations throughout projects' life cycle.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Developing project scope, project cost estimation and preliminary schedule.
  • Preliminary design and engineering of proposed opportunities.
  • Maintain relationships with existing CNG equipment vendors and construction contractors and build new strategic relationships with Solar, Hydrogen, and EV vendors and contractors.
  • Provide Engineering and Design to support the development of permit drawings, construction drawings, and as-builts.
  • Manage the external Engineering and Design resources to support the development, engineering review and stamping of permit drawings, construction drawings, and as-builts.
  • Review all project contracts to understand the processes/procedures and technical specifications to meet and exceed customer defined expectations.
  • Assist the PM with the completion of AHJ applications for the submittal to local permitting agencies.
  • Assist the PM with the completion of utility applications for projects (electric, gas, water, etc.).
  • Review equipment submittals and provide feedback to PM(s) for all major equipment from external vendors.
  • Support the PM(s) on meetings with the customers from an engineering and design prospective. Responsible for providing engineering sign off on all aspects of all applicable station designs.
  • Provide timely response to the submittal and Request for Information (RFI) process related to engineering and design.
  • Provide engineering and design support to the PM(s) with utilities, contractors, and the customer to reach acceptable technical, engineering and economic solutions.
  • Participate in construction phase periodic site visits, to identify, solve and execute engineering and design issues/problems to avoid project schedule and cost creep.
  • Establishes, implements, and maintains administrative policies, procedures, and standards
  • Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD, and SolidWorks, must be able to evaluate design drawings.
  • Work to create efficiencies between internal departments for continued process improvement.



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required
    • Associates Degree in design technology, preferred
  • Required Experience:
    • 3+ years' working in the field of engineering and design.
    • 3+ years' experience working with local project AHJ, environmental and safety regulations.
    • 1+ years' experience estimating construction work



SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Required Skills:

    • Excellent written and verbal communications negotiation, time management, and active listening skills.
    • Ability to function in, and successfully manage in a demanding environment, and analyze problems for best solutions
    • Self-starter with strong initiative, able to lead a team of people to accomplish set tasks and goals.
    • Must be able to establish a course of action for self and others to accomplish goals, utilizing appropriate resources; follows up by monitoring results and evaluating their effectiveness.
    • Experience with engineering design of industrial equipment or infrastructure which may include ASME, ASTM, welding and electrical codes, piping systems, structural design.
    • Full knowledge of Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Project. Must be able to type 40 wpm and compose professional emails, letters, and contracts.
  • Required Physical Demands:
    • Travel required, approximately 50%.
    • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping, occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
    • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
    • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
