Pre-Sales Manager Description:

Pre-Sales Managers in the ALTEN US Pre-Sales Office (PSO) are responsible for managing pre-sales efforts for their assigned sites and report to the US Director of Pre-Sales.

This job posting is for a Pre-Sales Manager managing the pre-sales activities for the following sites:
  1. Dublin, OH
  2. Greensboro, NC
  3. Troy, MI


Summary of primary responsibilities for this position:

This position will serve as the main pre-sales process POC to the Sales Team members for the assigned site(s) for activities that fall under the PSO's area of responsibility. These high-level activities are:
  1. Develop a clear and concise understanding of each customer's opportunity with respect to their business and technical needs for response and quotation purposes - and communicate understanding to the relevant stakeholders in Alten's Engineering and Sales Teams at the applicable Delivery Center(s) to best facilitate the proposal process. Related support activities include, but are not limited to, the following:
    1. Support technical discussions with customers during the prospection phase (aka "discovery" and "qualification")
    2. Present Alten Delivery Center (DC) capabilities to customers
    3. Participate in Customer Q&A sessions
    4. Assist in recommending engagement approaches (i.e. IQP levels) that best serve Alten's strategic objectives as well as meet customer needs
  2. Manage project go/no-go meetings with all relevant internal stakeholders (Engineering, Sales, etc.)
  3. Manage and assist in the generation of technical and financial proposals for the opportunities Alten USA pursues. This includes assisting in the generation of relevant case studies as they relate to past projects and Alten's capability matrices.
  4. When projects are won/awarded, transfer the aggregated project knowledge to Delivery Center execution teams to ensure they have what they need to kick the project off
  5. Assist in maintaining all workflows that the PSO owns or supports
  6. Continuously improve the PSO's operation (processes, tools, etc.) with the primary goals of:
    1. Reducing the total cost of sales
    2. Creating proposals that set the execution teams up for success
    3. Improving the overall win rate
  7. Lead pipeline status meetings to keep the Alten US Executive Team apprised of progress and challenges relative to the opportunities being pursued
  8. Other duties as assigned


Position Requirements:

Education
  • BSc or MSc in engineering
  • Will consider equivalent experience(s)


Experience
  • A minimum of 4 years of industry experience in technical product development in industries applicable to Alten's target industries
  • A demonstrated understanding of how all project-execution roles work together in product development (electrical engineering, IT, marketing, mechanical engineering, project management, quality, systems engineering, software engineering, sales, etc.)
  • Extensive experience estimating projects of various types (cost, schedule, resources)
  • Extensive proposal-writing experience for various types of contracts (time and materials, cost-plus, firm-fixed price
