The Account Manager's mission is to ensure customer success by proactively building, maintaining, and expanding relationships with our strategic Payer Partners to advance the direction of Availity in the healthcare information technology marketplace. The Account Manager supports the Availity 360 degree view of the customer, and as knowledge expert for the book of business, represents the voice of the customer internally and the interests of the organization externally. The Account Manager position requires expert communication and relationship building skills to interact effectively, and accomplish tactical objectives at all organizational levels. Must be capable of implementing key marketing strategies which enhance the position of the company. The position requires a self starter. Some travel is required.

Role qualifications:

  • 3 or more years of alliance, account or customer management experience in health care, payer, provider relations, or technology environment.
  • Associate's degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or equivalent work experience; Bachelor's degree a plus
  • Prefer experience with healthcare vendor community, including payers, billing services, practice management systems and clearinghouses.
  • Experience with the Blue Plan system is a plus
  • Up-sell experience in the healthcare market a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analysis and research skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use discretion and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Knowledge of healthcare payer processing, provider/hospital office operations, customer service and IT operations.
  • Technical systems integration knowledge.
  • HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) knowledge.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating meetings and engagements with multiple stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated client listening and analytical skills for the purpose of providing potential solutions to business problems and issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a rapidly changing environment a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a high demand environment a plus.



What you will be doing:

  • Owns the relationship between complex assigned accounts and Availity, and acts as the primary point of contact for accountability, issue escalation/resolution, product implementations, strategic account road map and growth of the relationship.
  • Effectively manages all aspects of the re-contracting process including pricing, proposal, administration functions, preparation for negotiations and customer presentations.
  • Obtains, utilizes, and accurately summarizes key competitive data to affect positive account growth.
  • Works with cross functional teams to coordinate and implement new functionality for assigned payers.
  • Stays current on industry and competitive trends, and applies knowledge of marketplace to account planning processes.
  • Identifies and coordinates marketing, management and technical resources necessary to achieve existing account up-sell objectives.
  • Identifies accounts with strategic potential, and develops a account plans to further integrate with these customers.
  • Communicates with accounts on a regular basis based on tier structure and need, via newsletters, email, phone, and/or face to face meetings.
  • Identifies opportunities to up-sell new products or services, coordinates closing the sale with the sales executive, and oversees implementation to production.
  • Monitors and supports retention through volume analysis and account penetration.
  • Reports regularly on the progress and accomplishment of stated goals by updating metrics that track results.
  • Responsible for building strong inter-departmental relationships to achieve individual and Account Management team objectives.
  • Establishes, maintains, and updates Relationship plans with all assigned accounts
